Recent traceback error, can't open

Post by drastunir »

I decided to play again, and noticed the error. I thought it was just corrupt or something, it had been a while. So I downloaded the game and installed again, same issue. I deleted the game and save files completely, installed, and same error. I have no idea what could have went wrong. Here's the message:

Hello, and welcome to the KS Community Support Hotline.

What operating system are you currently using?

Windows XP Media Center Edition service pack 3

It's odd, it ran before just fine. Just not today no matter what.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data and look for any folder that looks like important KS data.

Remember to BACKUP "persistent" data.

Found quite a few files, a few are "persistant", including a folder dedicated to a file, launcher-4, and a folder that appears to have autosaves and save data (LT1 is common)

Take the latest persistent file and run for the hills. Delete the application data folder, open KS, close KS, copy back persistent data, and open KS again.

So close, yet so far. It almost popped up, but same error. Frankie hates me lately (my computer.)

Try the same method again, but this time without backing up persistent data.

Solved it. I took a more "slash and burn" strategy. Uninstall, scour the computer for all instances of the game, deleted those manually, scoured again just in case, and reinstalled. Oh well, at least I can have Hanako smile at me again. Thanks for the help.

You're very welcome.

Since you deleted the savefiles, you have to go through that route again. Good luck.

Don't worry, I can't forget my favorite's route. I really appreciate the help. So does Frankie.
