Nice seeing there's still people doing the runs here :D
Good to see you Akros! Study hard and good luck; we and the running/workouts will still be here when your life eases up a bit.

Ran an injury free 15km last evening. Had a couple of twinges of pain from the foot, but nothing serious. I'm thinking of seeing a doctor who specialises in feet and strides (can't remember what they are called) to try to keep the injuries to a minimum. Luckily my benefits seem to cover at least some of that. I think I'll also design a leg/hips workout to try to strengthen that stuff. My aerobic fitness appears to have far surpassed what my bones and joints and tendons can handle.

Hey guys.

Another little update from me (although I seem to be turning into the procrastination king here :P).

Not done much more since last time, I'm ending up exhausted pretty much most of the time, and fell pretty ill a fortnight ago that literally knocked me out for a week. However, it's nearing the 1 year KS anniversary, and I'm aiming on replaying the game again which'll give me a kick up the backside (particularly as I'll do them in the same order as I did last time, which means Emi is first!).

Also aiming on moving house in the near year, which means I won't be travelling 1:30 morning and evening, which'll make a massive difference to me. I swear that that journey is a massive part of what's kicking me in the teeth currently.

On Friday though, I'm off work on holiday for 2 weeks, so hoping that that'll really help to recharge my batteries and get me up and living again :)

So I've been sick and unable to run for the past two weeks.
Today I wanted to go and repeat w5, but opening the window there's heavy rain outside.

I decided not to go today. What do you guys usually do when it's raining?
Snow wasn't a problem for me, but rain definitively is (I don't want to catch a flu again).

Noted. I do not have the tracks on me however so I will get back to you with updated links and then update the 1st post. Alliteratively, if someone else gets working links posted before I do I will update the first post with those.

Damn, you were fast.
I wanted to fill the ellipsis I left with the following content:

Since the w5d1 mix has the timing off, I spent over 9000 hours improving my audacity skills and created my own w5d1 mix that I now want to share with you.
It was quite hard to find 5 min speedy songs, so I hope you guys like Eurobeat.

Unfortunately, I don't have a mediafire account, so I would be very grateful if you could upload it there and link on the first post.
I uploaded it here: http://www.1filesharing.com/mirror/1VBO ... -mix_1.mp3 (don't know how long the link will work).

Remember me to post the track list as soon as it's linked in the first post (or just tell me if you don't like it and won't put it there).

Anyway, thanks a lot already!

Having trouble finding the missing tracks. I may have to make some unless someone else has them already downloaded so they can put up a link so I can fill in the blanks.
As for your w5d1 mix nginx, I the link was had all the download options either over limit or needing an account so I couldn't get to it. I would just stick it on youtube and I can download it from there.

Soooooooo, the holidays are over (is that why there's been no activity in this thread? I know I enjoyed my feasts of cake and ice cream ), so it's time to get back into the habit of being healthy again.

Do you guys have any plans or goals for this? I've been getting a bit of a head start on the new year; I ran yesterday and am about to go out for a walk now, I passed on some leftover christmas treats, and now I just need to go shopping and buy some actual... vegetables. It feels good.

Walrus, did your foot get better?
Espionanage, nginx, how's the running going? :)

I canned the whole workout in anticipation of gorging myself like a fat sack for the holidays. Now that they're over, I was gonna get going again but we got snow for the first time in years and it's left my running area in unfavorable conditions. Until it clears up a bit, I've replaced the walking with push-ups.

Decided to change up my schedule a bit and redid week 1 last week (Mon, Tues, and Wed), going to try to start W2 tomorrow :)

Knees hurt a good bit after running though, and I tend to get shin splints only on my left shin (right one is fine after running). Hoping it'll just lessen or go away after more running though.

Running 5km every 2nd day, but air is really shitty and its freezing outside :!: . I have hard time to get some balance in running, can't go more than ~5,5km coz I get bit sick every few weeks, so its like running few times and then 5 days off coz I feel high temperature and cough a bit. I eat vit C, B every day and started drink fresh onion juice(damn I hate it!) and raw lemon, hope its gonna help a bit.

What do you guys eat? Im trying to eat stuff like oatmeal/cereals, meat, sauce, rice, pasta, oranges, lemon, apples. But I do sandwiches/pizzas few times a week. And some sweets, damn I love sweet stuff, trying to limit it just for breakfast or get an orange. And some Water and shitload of tea.
And I quit drinking, Its about 1.5 month now. I had just glass of champagne and 1 shot (special occasions, friend went to thai for a year and a birthday), but dunno, tomorrow a new year, fuck Its hard not to drink in this society :]

I lost like 5kg since September, but I had slow start(week1, 2, injury, 2, 3,..dunno), but it was worth it. Always kinda look forward to next run. Gonna try some half marathon next year, hope so
anyway sry for long text and gl everyone whos gonna give running a shot

When I'm in running season, and I start feeling sick, my advice is thus:

Try working out, if you can find one, in an indoor, conditioned gym. Most of the time your sickness is caused by dry air, cold, etc. Stationary biking removes a ton of stress of your system in general while still working you out.

As for eating:

For breakfast, try some coconut water. It's just enough calories to subsist for a breakfast, and also contains a ton of vitamins and potassium to hydrate you. When I'm in running season, I drink one every morning as soon as I wake up. Tea is good but actually a poor hydrator as an athlethics perspective goes; the caffeine and urinary effects mean you do hydrate, but you'd have to keep drinking tea constantly to keep hydrated. I would recommend cytomax, which is what a lot of pro tennis players use. It's super-hydrating, and comes in powder form.

As for alcohol; something weird I read that might actually help your sickness.

Coconut water means normal juice or fresh from coconut? Coconut is pretty expensive here in central europe, but maybe I will try it next week although I dont like coconut :D
About indoor biking I don't rly like it, I did it earlier and I was bored. Winter just sux. I bike everyday in summer/fall and I'm fine, but now theres cold outside about -5 to 5°C that probably the problem and thats why I drink so much tea.
Cytomax sounds good gonna buy it sometime soon, and beer sounds alright, I even like non alc beer, but its expensive 3 times every day.. anyway thanks for advice.

no problem, i live in america where coconut water is sold under the brands zico and vita coco, but in europe, especially germany, you would find it as this

http://www.dr-martins.at/home.php

to clarify, coconut water/juice is the same thing; it can come or a can or in a juice pouch. most people prefer the pouch because the can makes the water taste metallic. coconut water is not, however, coconut milk, which would be labeled as such.

happy running!
