Rin does seem interested in Emi when she is at her Emi-est.
That's a good point, but I think that that interest comes from admiration or fascination, or even respect. After all when you first meet Rin she says she "collects people", and Emi is certainly very interesting when at her Emi-est. Rin definitely likes Emi, but just not to the point where she would consider them "friends."

And also I'd like to think of friendship between gentleman as "scotch and plain water."

That sounds like friends to me... Just cuz you can't tell someone all your secrets doesn't mean they're not your friend

Well, Emi did paraphrase things very nicely. "You can't help someone get dressed in the morning and not get along." So they at least have that as a basis for friendship. People do have a very loose definition of friendship, though. It's hard to tell sometimes. My definition of a friend, for example, is someone that seeks me out without me having to do anything. Someone that I talk to and get to know, and from then on they make an effort to get closer to me. That's a friend to me. It's much more involved than what a lot of people do.

How many % scotch and how many % water?

Welcome.
Thank you, thank you, it's been far too long.

And I agree with Hisao&Hanako, that's a very loose definition of the term "friend." You can very much so respect someone, and hell you can even like a person without being their friend. I'd consider them something more akin to "acquaintances" or something. The term friend implies, or should imply anyways, that they have a presence in each other's life and are more than just two people who get along.

And anyone who cares for scotch will tell you that it's just a splash of water, mostly scotch.

Emi was wrong. You can dislike somebody and still help them dress. It's not a very involving process. And I've had one friend in my 22 years. Maybe two but the other only lasted a few months to a year before contact fell through. The rest were barely acquaintances. Like, they say hi when passing in the hallway or toss out a few words once a week before classes start. Far from friends but hardly enemies.

That sucks dude, you should try to make some more good friends. Bros before hoes right?

...Actually, I completely disagree with that kind of thinking. Women are equal to men and have the same value in close relationships. I just know that not many people are the same as me and have that happy-go-lucky wear your heart on your sleeve kind of persona. With that, I tend to pursue relationships with females more. Guys are great and all but can't exactly provide the emotional support I'm looking for.

Easier said than done. But then, that's half the reason I'm moving on to college. Spent 15 years or so without, I'm sure I can manage something in 4.

Well, I don't consciously refuse to make friends, but I'm in a similar situation.

I know how it feels. My close friends moved away and have their own things going on in life, and I'm stuck with mostly acquaintances who hardly pass as good, close friends. But hey, here is a great place to rant about KS and possibly make some good friends, right?

Okay, apparently Keiichi is a friend. He must be because he was just in a PM bitching about my saying I have none. Hi Keiichi!

Hi!!

I didn't say you didn't have any! I just said that I'm a friend, or at least, you could consider me a friend. I like being friendly. Friend friend friend. It makes me happy! :D

Also, I think we've gone a bit off-topic; Rin is best girl. No exceptions.

You know what Rin's path needed? A Hisao/Rin date where they just played connect-the-dots in a dorm room. And they connect the dots. And it's Nomiya.

I don't think it's working out between us, Xan. We need to see other people...

Rin's path needed more funny Rin moments, and less Hisao depression moments. I know, vague, but maybe some people will know what I'm talking about.
