Only Ren'py 6.12 and up will work on Android and we aren't planning on upgrading our engine version anymore, so basically, no.

Being how I'm a total "future-proofing" sucker, that kind of logic really doesn't jive with me, but oh well your funeral.

You don't know what you're talking about. Future-proofing what? It's just a port to a platform that is LESS future-proof than what we currently have. Also upgrading KS's engine is a lot more involved than rewriting a couple of files over. Last time delta spent about 4 months fixing everything upgrading broke, and decided it's not worth it.

I mean that Android is very much a rising platform that's only bound to get bigger - currently it's pretty much the Windows of mobile.

I mean, some people spend years porting things to freakin homebrew on the DS, PSP, Wii, etc, and how many people actually run homebrew? I can guarantee it's a TON less than Android.

Basically, it's a case of that incredibly annoying closed-source situation of "those who have the means don't have the motive/interest, and those with the motive/interest don't have the means"

I think you can stop trying to make your case here... Aura already said they're not gonna bother with upgrading the Ren'Py engine, and provided a good reason, IMO. I for one would not look forward to having to wait extra months, simply because of an engine upgrade that wasn't really necessary...

How about you make a game, future proof it, and show us how it's done.

See you in a decade, don't bother writing.

ITT: Porting = game creation

Now I know why I stopped posting here...

Leotrak, it was more of leading up to the thing I said at the end, AKA 'if you're not gonna do it, then at least allow someone who would rather than shutting yourself off from the world'.

Is there something inherently wrong with KS following the Doom/Quake open engine model? It's not like the actual content and assets have to be accessible. (i.e. Quake puts them in .PAK files)

For someone who stopped posting you sure post a lot.
The more you talk the less your point is made in these cases. Drop it.

I would love to, but dropping it is 100% giving up. Discussing it may be 99.99% futile, but there's a .01% chance nonetheless.

My last post before this thread was in OCTOBER, and I don't even have 100 posts for registering even earlier than YOU. And FYI, I get email notification of replies and have an email notifier.

Either way, I guess the idea of even partial open-source-ness and freedom is just too much or something for you guys. I would make a comment about how the devs seem to be coming off as "game gods" as Malstrom calls them (i.e. Sakamoto of Other M notoriety), but that'd just rally up their followers.

Back to ReactOS I guess... and my cynicism grows ever deeper.

Must be kinda hard to drop a forum when you have something notifying you about every change in anything that interests you.

Considering there's no other way to conduct ideas that leave a "paper" trail, I don't really have a choice.

FYI, I get notification of ALL post on EVERY forum I make post on. It's a simplicity of management thing.

Can't be very simple if you have to trawl through all those emails to find the ones that are actually interesting.

Gmail filters, tags, and "skip inbox" makes it easy. No idea what you're on about.

Maybe you're under the impression that I post and use email a lot? Like I said earlier, I'm not an active poster on this forum, let alone ANY forum. And email? 99% of it is NOT "email" in the normal sense - most are notifications and updates. All my RL email goes to 2 other email accounts, not that I really get any. (I'm even LESS social in RL than in cyberspace - I wasn't joking about the "kuutsundere" part in my sig)

EDIT: Seems someone is having fun editing my sig and avatar. Abuse of power much?

Nah, that's just for constantly getting on my tits on the Shimmie. Fun fact: Photoshop can't NEARLY compress JPGs as much as GIMP, so strike on for FOSS I guess.
