Latin Poetry for Katawa Shoujo

Post by shiro_midori »

I don't know if this is exactly art or fan fiction, so I'll just leave it in Fan Works. I wrote five short (corny and somewhat melodramatic) poems for the five main girls in KS on a whim, then set it aside. I found them today and decided to try and translate them to Latin, also on a whim. I most probably mangled the Latin, but here they are:

Quid potes noscere quam verum
Si tuo non possum cernis credere
Ubi tuus oculos sunt
Rasos, non percipere.

(What can you know for sure
If you can't see to believe
With your own eyes
Blank, unable to perceive.)

The rest I have yet to translate:

A scar on your soul
Your body and your mind
Cast into tests of fire
Losses you cannot find.

Silence is the world
But not a peaceful kind
Cannot speak, cannot cry
Life is uncertain, unloving, unsigned.

Nothing to stand on
But still you run
Fleeing from the past,
Afraid to face the sun.

A mouth, yet you do not speak.
Lips, but you do not kiss.
No arms to hold the world
Words fail you, words you miss.

Been lurking around here for about two weeks now, but I just had to register, so that I could tell you how awesome I think those are. Short, but touching, thought-provoking and perfectly remind me of the girls. Thanks a lot. :)
All the important stories have already been written. It's thanks to people's forgetfulness that writers can continue to do what they love - dust off the stories over and over again and add their soul.

I like these very much. Especialy this one:

A scar on your soul
Your body and your mind
Cast into tests of fire
Losses you cannot find.

It touches me deep inside. Keep up the good work! :)

When I met you I was afraid to kiss you.
When I kissed you I was afraid to love you.
Now that I love you, I am afraid to lose you.."

Wow, I never expected a response, certainly not such positive ones! Thanks so much; I'll definitely work on the rest!

Do you mind if I reblog those poems on Tumblr? (with due credit, of course)

"sure" as in "sure, I don't mind", I hope :D

On the theme of poetry  you just inspired me to write some myself.
I shall call it, 'A light hearted poem about Lily Setou'. Sorry if its a bit sickly.

Every facet so refined,
Like a flawless diamond.
When our lives became entwined,
My spark of life brightened.

Because Lily you are so very sweet,
I love you in every way.
You make me feel so upbeat,
I know its cliché.

Apparently you’re half scotch,
With a hint of Japanese?
‘Nothing so pleasurable to watch,
As your little Scottish curtsies.

Nikai is so damn lucky,
And undoubtedly Hanako is too,
To have someone who is so genuinely,
And truly there for you.

To wrap things up,
I would say you are an angel.
You’re way better than Emi,
And she does anal.
