Real life Iwanako letter ?? ( well not really :p )

Post by rydiafan »

I got this today on facebook ( its has my first name which i dont mind sharing )

"Hi Andrew,
You won't remember me from school but I believe we attended B.C. Silver Jr. High together.
This may be the oddest note you ever recieve, but here goes nothing....

I was in your grade 8 class (Mr. McInnis) and watched as kids said and did many cruel things to you. I was often teased as well so I didn't speak up for fear of having them turn on me and I want to apologize for that. I feel absolutely horrible about it, even after over 15 years and I want you to know that I truly am sorry for just allowing it to happen and never speaking up for you.

I hope that life over the years since then has treated you well.
All the best, "

Now 2 things ... her real full name was on the letter so i didn't wanna put up on here ... its unfair to her and second ... what am i suppose to think about it ... i put that part of my life behide me and i worked hard to have a comfy life ... but even though i am much better off now ... it still weirded me out alot

So what is your opinion on this ???

Well, considering that (I assume) that there's no awkwardness that you feel toward her from your childhood, I think that replying could be a good idea, if only to be polite to her for sending an awkward message. Of course, since I don't know you, I can't really say that responding would be helpful, or that it couldn't hurt. If you have enough gall to make the reply though and can deal with your younger life alright, give it a shot.

(unless she's a creepy stalker :V)

i did reply ... for the simple reason that im curious why after all these years ... the past was awful for maybe 3-4 in jr high / first year of high school ( most of us here im guessing had the same thing happen to us ) ... im i truly am over it ( like past break ups for example ) ... but it's really odd ( all i can say )

Sounds like she's just trying to clear her conscious of what she considers past mistakes, nothing to get worked up about.

Yeah, sometimes, something happens to people and it makes them want to apologise to someone they have wronged or feel bad about stuff.

That kind of thing happens when a person plays a game like KS too, and they feel bad about things and want to make amends... its a commendable thing to do, trying to right some of the wrongs..

write her back, if it took her this long to work up the courage to overcome her childhood guilt your response will mean a lot to her. Make sure she knows everything is behind you and you live a good comfy life. Don't over-embellish things, or try to play it off, or say anything more than you need to (like the details of your childhood for instance), just an honest response letting her know that you are doing well and how you think about her letter.

Christ, I feel like writing Iwanako letters to the people of my past life after reading your post.

So you're on Rin's path~! Please carry on.
While we are here discussing, Hanako is somewhere hopping from dark to darker tiles. Alone.

Interesting! Nice to share your thoughts about this here.

The Iwanako letter and the way Hisao responds in a few of the storylines and the explanation one of the girls gave to it (don't remember who) made me think. At first I thought, well this is a nice gesture from Iwanako, but after reading that explanation it made me think that it might be more an 'egoistic' kind of letter than a nice gesture.

But, having said that, although this might be a similar situation (maybe she sent you the message to clear her conscience), I still think it's a nice gesture anyhow. No weird intentions, I would just reply to her, same as you did.

Just curious, what did you answer (if it's too personal I understand)? What was your initial 'gut feeling' about this?
