I've only known about this for half of a year now. Nevertheless, best of luck in finishing it, ja?

Fantastic news for the New Year! 'Sometime this year' is much better than 'sometime'.

Meh. We'll still love it. Sure we may face awesomeness withdrawal, but that's okay. Something else always comes along to draw our attention. And we can always write more fanfic.
I found out about Katawa Shoujo through the forums of Misfile. There, I am the editor of Misfiled Dreams.

Completed: 100%, including bonus picture. Shizune>Emi>Lilly>Hanako>Rin

*spit take*

Well chaps, the time is upon us. My body is ready, the soul is willing and only time delays me from my destiny. I have only one question now.

Can you dig it?

I'm away from my computer for 1 day and you release this amount of info. Always my luck.
I'm glad to see it on a blog post this time that KS will be released in 2011, rather than just on the forums with ya Suriko. Also, glad to hear about the extra things that are being worked on, perhaps the addition of a mini-game series where you can play chess against Hanako (still dreaming of that strip chess idea of mine)...yeah like that would happen. Okay, just glad to hear everything is moving along. It will be great to see the finished product before I graduate.
Rin=Hanako>Emi>Misha>Lilly>Shizune (Misha counts in my world alright; and now she surpassed Lilly)
Fanfic series entitled... A Day in the Life of [character name here] (updated 6/8/10)
Random writings and Crossover... New stuff of Neuman (updated 5/6/11)
It's time to Duel... KS Yugioh Deck (updated 3/16/11)

KS 2011

Post by Shades of gray »

Welcome to 2011 everyone, Let me tell you how my day has been.

rolled out of bed late afternoon, spent most of the day in the kitchen, Played a bit of WoW with a friend, read some fanfics and then finally at 4 in the morning, came to check KS.

And whaddya know? new blog... and a progress update!!

now, I will say this... wow, just wow. After silence for so long on how the game is progressing from the Devs, this just came out of no-where.

then I noticed one little line
And within months from today, after four years in development, Katawa Shoujo will be released.
Now forgive me for the copy & paste :

Emi path:
Writing: Path script is finalized.
Direction: Path direction is completed.

Lilly path:
Writing: Path script is finalized.
Direction: Act 3 out of 4 complete.

Hanako path:
Writing: Path script second draft finished, Act 4 in editing.
Direction: Act 2 out of 4 complete.

Rin path:
Writing: Act 4 second draft in progress.
Direction: Act 3 out of 4 complete.

Shizune path:
Writing: Act 4 second draft in progress, Act 3 in editing.
Direction: Act 2 out of 4 complete.

WOW, just WOW. this is some brilliant progress. Now, I'm just a simple Average Joe, but I had to take a moment and consider just how much work has to go into every little detail along the way. Firstly, Writing. In my mind the most difficult part, I cannot imagine just how hard it must be to write out a single act, let alone 5 (or 6 if there is a separate Kenji path) and lets not mention the research and thought that had to go into everything, especially when you consider the disabilities and mental process of the character. Art, now I can draw (badly) and I can imagine how hard it is to bring a written story to life (lets not forget that infamous Chessboard Incident). And then these paths have to weave together (at least for Act 1)

The enormity of this is staggering.

So, to everyone out there, lets give the Devs the appreciation and support they deserve.

I think I speak for all of us when I say we are eagerly looking forward to Katawa Shoujo finally becoming a reality.

Well Done Guys and Gals, Well Done.

*edit* thanks for moving this here

Great to hear. All the hard work of the dev team comes to fruition. I'm looking forward to an overdose of Emi in a few months.

Oh. My. God. I was expeting the good ol' ''woes of a KS dev'' kind of blog post. not this. my body was not ready.
this is AWESOME! it's like santa claus did a double-take to bring me a forgotten present!

and to think this all started back on /a/, all those years ago. when it did, I hardly paid attention to it. then, as the fic threads got
more obvious, I gave Act1 a try, two years ago. i've been a hanako lover ever since, and I long to contemplate her fried goods with
my own monitor. every few days, i'd check the blog, lurking, posting here and there in some juicy threads. I never took part in the
development process, but there's a bit of me in this game. there's a bit of anyone that's ever posted on the motherchan in this game.
It's a VN by channers, for the internet. I just want to tip my glass of glenfidditch(thanks, Dad) to all of our merry devs, and to anonymous and
his/her love of crippled babes. and to Kenji, who's sipping Jack Daniels and eating pretzels with me. TY, gaiz. TY.

oh, what the hell. I LOVE YOU, KS DEVS!

It occurs to me that I've never waited this long for pornography before.

Pornography? What madness is this? This game is merely a natural extension of immersed storytelling. With parts in it that I would never show to a child.

Wow! What a way to start the year... I hope it bodes well for all of us..Thanks dev team for the work! Keep it up!

Thanks Suriko for the update! I am sure it was a great answer to everyone's doubts and questions.
"If Hisao took one thing away from his time at Yamaku it was the fact that people who have handicaps don't actually have handicaps. People like Lilly and Shizune are more able-bodied and well-adjusted than most of the kids at Hisao's old high school. He shook his head slightly. No, students at Yamaku weren't handicapped; everyone else was." - WetCrate

It's fun, isn't it?
Now back to steadily hoping that the certain dev with many surprises is Manyakis. >_>

Wait, KS has been in development for only four years? Reading some of the butthurt that occasionally pops up, you'd think it was a decade.

Good luck!
