This tech is for a much more common adaptation, and not one that would get a student into Yamaku, but...

Essentially, it's an adjustable pair of glasses.

Hmmm, this centre just opened in Singapore, of all places. It's a whole low-vision support package — tech, methods, training, etc. Founded by an eye surgeon and her neurosurgeon husband…

"What the centre does is to first perform an assessment of each child, evaluating the child's functional vision, his orientation and mobility (ie his ability to get around) and what kinds of assistive technologies are available to help. It then custom designs programmes for each child. IC2 Prephouse also works with mainstream schools to help them to modify their teaching methods to support vision-impaired students who study there."

Amazing.

Here's a bit of adaptive technology Hisao and Rika may be interested in...

Dunno about you, but I'd make damned sure I had several reminders set up well ahead of time…

One could always go with thermoelectric batteries. Just watch out for random mutations. :?

...Currently implanted pacemakers run on similarly long-lasting batteries, you know. And to be quite honest, I'd say that if you neglected to stay alive through forgetting to maintain the one thing that's keeping you ticking, well... no real loss. :?

People die because they neglect their health all the time - though I admit this case would be rather extreme...

Not exactly "adaptive technology", but this bioprinter is an interesting concept, nonetheless.
