If I remember correctly, I first learned about Katawa Shoujo from a gurochan post and I kinda kept following the blog since then. :D
"The things that I want", by Hanako Ikezawa. A chocolate bar. A cup of tea. For the sun to shine. I want to sleep to forget. To change the past. My parents and skin back. Unlimited chess pieces and a license to skip turns. Right then, more than anything, I wanted him.

Actually by the most random luck ever. I saw a YouTube Video of Spoony at a Convention and in his Q/A panel he mentioned this game as being really good. As Spoony rarely praises things - and if he does it's always worth checking out - I came here. And the rest is 2 weeks old history.

Hmm sounds similar.

You remember which video? I wouldn't mind seeing that.

I happened upon an Escapist Thread taking a survey for who picked which girl first.
So I read the thread, and grew curious to know what everyone was getting so emotional about.
One searchbox later, I'm on 4Leaf Studios' homepage with some Visual Novel downloading.
I sat in bed that night, figured it was worth a try.
.
.
......THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.
.
.
.
.and emerged a month later from some sort of pseudo-coma, with five arcs completed and a growing sense of being overwhelmed by my own feelings, and severely confused as to how to deal with it. I figured if I could find anyone who would listen to my ranting, I'd be fine.
So here I came, and rant I did.

ChilledChaos's half-walkthrough. It was actually what made me aware of VN's in general.
Rika > Lilly > Hanako > Akira > Shizune/Misha > Emi/Rin

A few months ago, I was asking a friend of mine if he knew of any good games that I might be interested in. I'm really into great story driven games. While KS is a VN, not a game, he showed me anyway. I was a little sketchy at first because of the description. I was half thinking, "Oh great, another perverted dating sim.". But, the game stuck in my head, and after asking the friend for the name multiple times(I can be so forgetful), I finally went out and downloaded it. It holds true to the "never judge a book by it's cover" idea. I found my way to the forums here after I finished the game, all routes, all endings. I was craving for more so I went looking for fanfics. One thing led to another, and now my bookmarks bar is full of fanfics from here and other assorted places on the web. Actually i'm attempting to write one of my own. The ideas there, my brain just doesn't want me to put it on paper for some reason. I just hope I can get it out someday....

I didn't remember, but I ran across it again by accident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNmBr_jd3N8 I notice this weird trend how most of the things I find that are good are by accident. Come to think of it, the job I got was also mostly by accident. Huh. Fancy that.

I was on YouTube looking for some rouge legacy something or other because that is my current obsession when I found some streams by a caster called Milbee who was also conveniently playing through KS. I watched a few, he was on Hanako at the time and got hooked. Unwilling to wait for daily uploads, I DL'ed the game and finished the route (thankfully) with the good end. Cue depression for lack of Moar, even though all I'd done was Hanako and a night browsing through fan art until a link took me here. A week of lurking until I finished Sisterhood and decided to make an account. Rather lame, but thats how I got here.

Was browsing youtube when I found a video entitled, well that doesn't matter. Anywho, one of the comments was something like...Katawa Shoujo should be number 1.
I was like....WTF is Katawa Shoujo? To be honest I thought it was some sort of anime book filled to the brim with H-scenes, as I soon found out it was everything but that. I would now akin it to a video-novel which tears you apart emotionally, and then reconstructs you.

Started watching a "Silent" walkthrough which was of Emi, saw Hanako and immediately changed to her. No regrets. Unfortunately I spent the entire night watching the entire walkthrough (even though I had an Exam at 9:15 the next morning) cried at the end, quite a bit. Came home after my exam next morning shattered after having no sleep. DL'ed the game and played Hanakos route a further 2 times. Went into a state of depression missing the story of mai waifu, found these forums and found Sisterhood, read it through, loved it, loved the forums, loved the community and I decided to try and become a part of it.

A friend I know from the internet suggested I should check it out and told me that "I'd like it."

I won't sugarcoat it, I'm not the biggest fan of anime out there. And while a VN is significantly different from an anime, you try telling that to someone as ignorant as me. But his constant insisting that I'd like it, despite being fully aware that I'm not really into that kind of thing made me curious.

But I never expected what I got.
