I didn't really need an interpreter character, but Crud raised the idea of having one, so I decided to roll with it because I thought it could add an interesting dynamic, and it turned out for the best.

I and a couple friends of mine have been to school with a couple of deaf people and they did have an interpreter with them to help them take notes and communicate with others if necessary, but I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject of interpreters for the deaf.

Is there any particular reason Shizune plays Risk?

It has more depth than checkers and there is more room for chance than chess, which makes it a little more interesting. It's also larger scale and has more fighting outside the game than in it, just like New Super Mario Bros.

I'm sure this question's been asked before on the forum, but is there any particular reason there isn't a Misha route?

There are a few. The most obvious is that this game's inspiration was taken from a single page that defined characters and Misha wasn't one of those. She's an original character and it would be strange to therefore give her a route. It wouldn't fit with the spirit of the game.

That, and it would significantly lengthen development time.

Right, which, of course, you want to avoid.

Now, about Hanako. I'm a little confused as to why exactly she's attending this academy with just burn scars. Forgive me if I sound insensitive, but shouldn't she be able to... erm... function just fine despite them, or are they painful and limiting in a way that she doesn't show? If so, I've seen no indication in the game itself, so correct me if I've missed something.

We considered that, but I think it is explained well enough in her path. It would be wrong to spoil it.

And feel free to ask multiple questions at once, more people can jump in and it will keep things interesting.

Alright. So, who composed Lily's theme? It's regarded as one of the best pieces done for the game.

Also, is there one person responsible for one character? Or is it closer to a team effort?

If you're talking about Concord it was Nicol, and he doesn't particularly like that track.

Every girl has one writer, like I'm the Shizune writer, Aura is the Rin writer, etc. It's on the website, I think. That doesn't mean that stuff like someone occasionally writing bits with a character that isn't theirs is unhead of, there are a couple Shizune parts in Act 1 I didn't write, like when she is scolding Emi or talking to Rin. Usually whoever is writing that character does glance over it, though, for consistency.

Side characters are a tossup, there is no one particular writer for any side character. Sometimes it complicates things. A funny story is that at first Yuuko had no personality at all and it was too hard to pick one for her, so Crud said whoever could write a scene utilizing her first would establish her personality. I won that.

So then where did Yuuko's personality come from?

As a question to all the writers, did any characters you wrote for have any kind of basing on someone you know?

Nowhere.

And not really. Since it's a relationship game, personalities would come more from idealized concepts of feminine aspects more than basing them off other people. The same would go for side characters, naturally.

Okay, it's about time for me to wrap this up, I think.

My last question: Any funny stories from behind the scenes you'd like to share?

Sadly the world of writing anime porn is not very funny. This is where real porn has us beat.

Though making fun of stock H-scene phrases as a group before realising that you've used a particularly notable one yourself, twice, is somewhat of an awkward moment.

Also, graphical glitches.

Generally though most of our humour consists of throwing eggs at retards, often within our own group as far as writing goes. A lot of writing will never be made public for good reason.
