I think that's perfectly fine, as far as "unnecssary" opinions go. Not everyone has to absolutely love everything about KS. It would be weird that was the case.

it'd mean that either you'd done something really good, or that your entire fanbase was actually the Borg.

Hearing how meticulous the dev process is cements my opinion that this will be the only VN for me
So you'll only play one thing in a genre, think it's amazing, and so assume that nothing could be better, and not even look for anything that is agreed to be better by the masses, on average? Your loss.

Considering that the VN industry tends to follow a formulaic approach to narrative, setting, characterisation, etc would probably be a point in favor of his thinking, though.

Even if KS was the best VN ever, it doesn't make other VNs not worth reading. Just because something isn't the best doesn't mean it can't be good.

However, just because the rest of the genre might be good doesn't mean Sturgeon's law isn't in full force.

Of that 10%, I'd say few are worth reading, but even 1% of every VN ever is a quite a bit of reading.

Even though I do love KS, I think there are a few games better than getting bitchin' crip titties.
