Mahou Shoujo Shining Valkyrie of Justice Hana-chama Part 4!

Post by kosherbacon »

And here's something inspired by artwork which DEFINITELY do NOT show KS characters in a magical girl setting...

It's a bit of a change for me but I'm enjoying writing it. Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time...

================================================================================================================================
The Last Valkyrie
================================================================================================================================

Instead of her usual routine of browsing the aisles, finding a book, and getting lost for an afternoon, Hanako ducked and dodged her way through the library. She weaved between the shelves at a brisk pace to hopefully lose her tail while not appearing to be aware of him.

She failed at both.

“Ikezawa,” the stalker snarled, “I need to give you something. It's very important.”

Kenji reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvety jewelry box and opened it. A highly polished but otherwise unobtrusive heart shaped locket made of a white metal on a matching chain glistened from within.

“G-G-Get away!” she yelped when she slapped the gift out of his hands. “L-Lilly says I'm n-not supposed to t-talk to y-you!”

“Then you leave me no choice,” he replied before spraying a warm but otherwise inert and flavorless liquid into Hanako's face from a small aerosol bottle.

By the time Hanako crawled out of the mental hole she buried herself in, Kenji was long gone. Sometime before blacking out, she heard his sinister laugh ring in her ears before pulling away into the distance. Shaken, but otherwise relieved that there was no follow-up, even from good Samaritans, Hanako did her best to carry on with her day.

Things went smoothly until the end of the day. On her solitary detour back to the dorms, she was accosted by two unfamiliar girls who never gave her any trouble before.

“Haaaa-naaaa-koooooo. We've found yoooooouuuuuu...” one sang to the other while they closed in on her.

“How does it feel to be all alone? No amazon to hide behind, no prettyboy to latch onto, just you and perdition.”

Hanako tried to run, but with inhuman speed, the girls had her. One clamped vise-like claws around her wrists and sandwiched Hanako's legs between her legs of iron.

“We've been searching a very long time, Hanako” The other assailant whispered while caressing Hanako's chin between teasing flicks of her tongue. “You're all that's left until... Nah, I ain't tellin you shit!”

Hanako screamed until she felt her vocal chords burst, yet nothing came out. She struggled until she felt her muscles tear off her bones, yet she remained still. Time slowed down just so she could watch in horror as two strangers attempted to violate her.

Just as lips were about to touch, Hanako felt herself get bathed in light. With speed almost too fast for her to process, a column of ...shine for the lack of a better word... plowed her attackers offand sent them careening towards a wall of shoe lockers with a deafening crash.

“It's a damn shame I had to stop that,” Kenji chuckled when he made his grand entrance, “it was getting kinda hot.”

“K-Kenji... wha- BWEEEEK!!” Hanako screamed, with her pent up panic overriding her sensible question.

“Those two were acolytes of the nuGod. They were attracted to the pheromones I sprayed on you earlier.”

“Y-You did this to me?!”

“No, they did,” Kenji said, pointing at the two girls folded in half in a joined pool of blood. “I just wanted to show you the truth.”

“Wha-I don't get it. Acco-what? New God?”

“Acolytes, nuGod. Follow me to my headquarters. I have much to share with you.”

“But I...”

“Do you want to get the rape spray again?!”

“O-Okay...”

...

Against every grain of advice given to her by ...just about everyone, Hanako followed Kenji back to his room. From looking at the various leaflets, books, and propaganda posters littered about, Hanako started to draw conclusions about the nature of Kenji's “truth.”

“You're not gonna believe a thing I say, so I'm just going to start with this,” Kenji said when he handed Hanako a photographic print that was stained with age and coffee. Pictured were a large group of professional looking people. Most were in laughably dated suits with wide ties and huge lapels, others in lab coats, while still others were in military uniforms from various countries. In the foreground was... Hanako's father.

“D-Daddy...?” she whimpered when an internal floodgate of emotions released.

“Hey, hey, don't lose your cool just yet. I haven't even started. See that guy next to your father? That's my old man, right there.”

“Your dad knew my d-dad?”

“Yeah. They worked together. My dad used to babysit you, actually. He still talks about you.”

“Wh-what? What's going on?”

“Ikezawa, there's a war out there. A secret war, waged between mankind and...”

“...Feminism?” Hanako blurted out, half hoping to appease Kenji and be allowed to return to her room.

“No. Not Feminism.”

“But Lilly and Hi-Hisao said...”

“I know what they say, and that's just a small corner of a much bigger picture. What do you know of The Cold War?”

“Um, that's when America and Russia tried taking over the...”

“WRONG! 'The Cold War' or actually, the entire nineteenth and twentieth centuries as you've been taught were all a ruse. All a front to build up the worldwide military-industrial complex and unify the world's peoples under a few powerful banners rather than wait to gather up the scattered peoples when the time came.”

“T-Time for what?”

Kenji clasped his hands together and brooded for a moment. The room seemed to somehow grow darker and more sinister until he exploded with enthusiastic revelation.

“The arrival of the nuGod. Aliens, Ikezawa. Well, they don't come from another planet, per se, but from a different plane of existence. They began invading sometime before the beginning of recorded history. The thing is, though, their portals consume their entire culture. Imagine, Hanako, entire races devoted to the production of ONE thing!”

“Uh...huh...”

“They weren't a threat until a couple hundred years ago, though. They'd use huuuge amounts of energy just to send one or two of them through to our side at a time. They don't have physical bodies, so they couldn't send alien weapons either. All they ever managed to do was assemble small groups of possessed humans and harass us. Sure, bad shit happened, they did damage, but they'd always lose. But all of a sudden, Benjamin Franklin started detecting high amounts of transpectral radiation while trying to find a cure for syphilis.”

“Way-Wait... did you say Benjamin Franklin...?”

“Don't interrupt me, woman. He discovered that the nuGod were improving their travel techniques and would soon be able to send in a REAL invading force. Ever since that initial discovery, the leaders of every nation on Earth have been coordinating their efforts in preparation for their arrival.”

Kenji straightened out his glasses and leaned close enough for him to gauge Hanako's reactions.

“Everything in modern history has been leading up to their arrival. When they first started coming here, we were just scattered cave people who fought each other even more than with them. Over time, we slowly coalesced into more organized, better armed, larger tribes. Nationalism, Colonialism, Imperialism, all the different buttloads of experimental governments people have followed from Fascism to Socialism were all motivated by our need to be unified.”

“Same with technology,” he continued. “Internal combustion, electrification, heavier than air flight, automatic weapons, lasers, atomic weapons, my Divine Glasses of Omniscience, and even pop music were all developed as weapons.”

“I d-don't get it. Wh-What does this have to do with me?”

“Some ninety years ago, the Illuminati put in motion a plan to create the ultimate weapon against the nuGod. Generations of scientists dedicated their entire lives to the pursuit of research. Their weapons, Ikezawa, were to be their children. Imagine, teams of young warriors, each equipped with a specialized tool of superscience fighting the alien invasion, with each making up for each other's short comings. Alone, they would be strong. Together, they'd be invincible. Just like Voltron.”

“Y-You mean Go-Lion?”

“No, stupid girl. Voltron. What kind of gay name is Go-Lion anyway?”

Kenji showed Hanako the photo of her father and his colleagues again. With a pound of his fist on the table for each incident, he told her how one-by-one, each man was killed along with his experimental eugenics child. Kenji's father was a passive observer who never volunteered his offspring for the project, so he was spared along with Kenji. Hanako's father was not so lucky. He died while buying time to allow his family to go into hiding.

“You saw what human vessels containing the nuGod were capable of, didn't you? I haven't been augmented genetically like you have, so I could only do so much. Two goons are about all I'll ever be capable of handling, it seems. With you, there's no limit to your power.”

“B-But you said that it was supposed to be a different weapon for each kid. Wh-What will I use?”

“When they started getting slaughtered one-by-one, your dad merged them all together. It's risky, but in theory, you should be able to handle it all on your own. Now, Ikezawa, are you with me?”

“N-No... I can't. This isn't real.”

“BITCH, THERE ARE TWO DEAD KIDS IN THE HALLWAY AND THEIR MASTERS ARE NO DOUBT DEMANDING ANSWERS NOW ARE YOU WITH ME?!”

Hanako swallowed her fears and searched her soul. For her entire life, she was but a wingless fly on the wall awaiting a rolled newspaper. Perhaps it was time for her to finally matter.

“O-Okay. I, I'll do it.”

...

Hanako looked around the “Dojo of Manly Machismo,” which sat in the back yard of Kenji's house. It was dusty, stifling, but with the garden tools and bags of fertilizer gone, it was fairly cozy.

“Are you ready to begin your training, Ikezawa?” Kenji's voice from beyond the door asked.

“Y-Yeah,” she answered.

“Okay.”

“H-Hey wait!” she yelped when she heard a hefty sounding padlock clank shut outside.

Hanako started fidgeting nervously when her protests went unanswered. Her senses flared up in full blown panic mode when she heard some sort of liquid splash around outside. Noxious fumes trickled in through the tool shed's flimsy plywood walls and confirmed her worst fears.

“No,” she begged to herself, “not this. Anything but this...”

A stronger person would've kicked down the walls or the door. A stronger person would have gone outside and beaten the snot out of Kenji for being so cruel. But then again, a stronger person wouldn't have curled up in a ball and started weeping when confronted with their most persistent nightmare.

By the time the fuel was ignited, Hanako was gone within herself. She wasn't in a burning shed anymore, but in a dark, abyssal fortress of her own design. The darkness protected her. It enabled her mind to rapidly shut down so that her body could endure whatever came to it. She was free to die alone, in peace.

“Hanako...”

“No!” her inner child screamed when shaken out of her catatonia. “Go away!”

“Hanako...”

“Stop it! You're dead!”

“Hanako...”

“Leave me alone!”

“Why do you hate me, Hanako?”

Hanako's heart clenched up as if a gorilla's hand had clamped around it. She didn't hate her father. She couldn't. So why was she recoiling away from his voice? No, it wasn't him she hated. It was the damned fire that raged all around her. Fire destroyed her life, it made her what she was instead of what she could have been. Fire took everything. It was disgusting and by association, her father's voice became just as repulsive to her.

Hanako opened her inner eyes and saw a strong, familiar, comforting hand reaching towards her from the black. With no other course of action other than dying, she reached out and was pulled back to Earth.

Suddenly, she found herself standing in the inferno once again, drenched in sweat, tears, and fright. Flames licked the insides of the shed, but they weren't terrors from hell anymore. It was fire, simple as that. It was an obstacle to overcome. After all, Hanako couldn't save the world unless she saved herself first.

Hanako nervously tore free from the shackles of her past and inched towards the door.

“N-N-N...”

She raised her shaking fists and made tentative practice swings against the flimsy door.

“N-N-No...”

She made contact. Barely grazing, yes, but finally, Hanako took her fate into her own hands and made steps towards fighting her fears instead of merely hiding from them.

“NO!”

The floppy doors buckled and splintered when she struck. The rusty hinges popped right out of the rotting lumber they were anchored to. Sunshine flared into her vision as if heaven itself sliced into hell to shine on her. Just beyond the threshold, Kenji was standing there looking as smug as ever.

“Oh, good. Having you die of smoke inhalation would've been a pain in the ass for me to deal with. Not bad, for a chick.”

Hanako swallowed her remaining anxiety and left the “dojo” just as it collapsed to spread its flames to the house of Kenji's much-loathed neighbors. She wasn't sure whether to embrace Kenji in gratitude for helping her overcome her fears or slug him in the gonads for nearly killing her. She settled on not doing anything at all.

Hanako had been smashed and reduced to rubble. A lifetime of emotional baggage was stripped away so she could begin living the life she was destined to lead.

...

On the final day of Hanako's grueling training, Kenji put her through a gauntlet of endurance, strength, speed, mental agility, and improvisation in the backyard of his home. Her body was battered and it showed, but Hanako's eyes burned with a sense of purpose the likes of which she never thought possible.

“Now remember, the nuGod aren't just monsters in the night. They are also cultural insurgents. Everything from the global spread of soccer to second wave Feminism is their doing. Always be vigilant to attacks of all kinds. Any more questions before you permanently take possession of your weapon?”

Kenji handed Hanako the locket she had used during her training. When in use, her enhanced natural energies worked in concert with the nanobots within to produce items and effects out of seemingly nothing. She gently took it out of his hands and draped it around her neck as if she was crowning herself with an ancient royal jewel.

“You don't wear it, you bimbo. You have to swallow it. Chain and everything.”

“B-But can't I just wear it?”

“Haven't you watched any cartoons? You put a superweapon around some dumb teenage chick's neck and what's the first thing that happens? It gets stolen. Or you'd be dumb enough to put yourself in a situation while not wearing it. Now swallow the goddamned necklace so it can dissolve. The nanobots will permeate through your organs and multiply to achieve their maximum potential.”

“I f-forgot to ask. Is there anything in this locket?”

“No. Now eat it.”

Hanako swallowed the jewelry and felt her insides burn as it dissolved within her and constructed permanent implants and structural reinforcements within her. Her conditioning involved overcoming her fears, including fire, but even then, she was not prepared for the sheer terror of having her insides twist apart. With the weapon fully merged with her, she collapsed. Kenji scooped Hanako off the deck of his backyard and carried her upstairs. In a mere three days time, she would regain consciousness and be ready for action.

...

“Thanks for helping me with this,” Yuuko said when Hanako unloaded the last cartload of surplus books into the back of her Toyota Corsa hatchback. “The kids at the orphanage will really enjoy these.”

“N-No prob-” Hanako's response was cut short when her heightened senses picked up on incoming concentrations of negative energies. From the shadows emerged an elderly couple. Hanako tried ignoring them, but her training and instincts kept her from letting them slide. The nuGod certainly weren't above using such delicate vehicles for their incorporeal selves.

“Oh, hello there,” Yuuko asked the hunters, “is there anything I can do for- KYAAA!!!!”

“You can give me your soul,” the old woman said with an unearthly ring that did not come from her mouth, which was busy gnawing on Yuuko's neck.

“St-Stop it!” Hanako yelled out to no reply. The aliens were clearly after Yuuko. They did not seem to recognize Hanako as a threat. Part of her training involved making her soul taste unattractive to them. The two creatures conversed in unintelligible clicks before resuming their meal. Hanako filled with rage at the sight of her friend being devoured. She shot her arms forward. With her fingers extended, she formed the outline of a heart with her hands.

“IN THE NAME OF LOVE, I COMMAND YOU TO HALT!”

With her Earth-shattering words, the ground at Hanako's feet fractured and spilled beams of light all around her. Her clothes burned away when her skin ignited white-hot. Hanako's form stretched slightly and expanded in various places. Her holy armor of science and magic materialized around her.

The light solidified into a protective casing that only dissipated when she emerged, fully armed for the fight. Hanako's scars had faded away and her hair turned bright electric purple. Thigh-high white boots with byzantine purple trim added a good deal of height to her. The matching pleated miniskirt left little doubt that she had somehow grown a new set of curves, which were also accentuated by a shimmering breastplate. A winged helmet completed her war dress and she wielded a broad-headed spear that sliced through the air audibly when she danced it around her.

“What the fuck are you?” the aliens demanded.

“SHINING VALKYRIE OF JUSTICE HANA-CHAMA, AT YOUR SERVICE.”

“Shining what in the what what?”

“Who cares, I'll bet she's delectable under that bitter tasting shell of hers.”

The creatures dropped Yuuko and sprinted on all-fours with a simian gait towards Hana-chama. With a calm, well-drilled action, she pointed her spear at one of the aliens and initiated her first attack.

“ULTIMATE SHINING SPEED!”

In an instant, Hana-chama materialized with her spear impaling the alien that took the form of an old man. With the Valkyrie's attention momentarily gone, the “old woman” jumped at her to sink fangs into her flesh.

“ULTIMATE SHINING ARMOR!”

Sparkles swirled around the forearm Hana-chama shielded her face with. The old woman's gnashing teeth shattered against the shell of synthetic pseudo-neutronium that formed a barely stable shell within a conformal stasis field around her arm. With the monster in momentary retreat, Hana-chama's emergency armor dissolved back into thin air. The old woman circled around with speed even augmented senses struggled to match. A straight-line attack wasn't going to work. With the old man still dangling from her spear, Hana-chama cried out her next malediction.

“ULTIMATE SHINING ATTACK!”

A jet of blindingly intense plasma shot from Hana-chama's spear. Her weapon burned so hot that the dead alien she swung around vaporized around it. With the precision of a garden hose, she burned a swath through the surrounding buildings, walls, fences, streetlights, utility poles, Yuuko's car, and finally, the remaining alien.

The aliens were dead, but Hana-chama's friend was in terrible shape as well. Yuuko's life was gushing out of her jugular vein and was well beyond saving by contemporary medicine. Hana-chama cradled Yuuko's dying self and touched foreheads with her.

“Ultimate shining love,” she whispered before landing her lips upon Yuuko's gaping mouth. With her tongue, Hana-chama deposited nanites inside Yuuko. Slowly, the subminiature machines gathered up spilled blood, soil, leaves, and even ate at her clothes to harvest raw materials for their work. The frayed open flesh on Yuuko's neck closed up and healed as if someone had hit the rewind-button on her injuries. Her slow and unpredictable heartbeat stabilized and Yuuko began breathing again.

“Wha-what happened?”

“It's okay, you're going to be okay.”

“What... there was a student here, a young girl.”

“She's okay. She ran away a long time ago.”

“I'm glad... thank you stranger, for everything. What do I call you?”

“I am just a foot soldier in the war against darkness. I am The Shining Valkyrie of Justice Hana-Chama. I'm glad you are okay. I must go now. There are others who need me.”

Hana-chama laid Yuuko back down and stood up to survey the horizon. With her incantation of “ULTIMATE SHINING VISION,” she detected several more instances of alien attacks on human beings. Before Yuuko could glean more information from her savior, Hana-chama disappeared with a blink of an eye.

This fic balances between words "crazy as hell" and "awesome".
Both fit.

kosher... My god. What have you done, you've created a monster!

First of all: there's nothing wrong with the text itself, not at least as far as I noted.

Second of all: A good parody of the most horrible henshins of the horrible.

Third of all: My god, it's so henshin it burns my mind! It rends my flesh! It rips my soul out! It melts my brain! I hate it, but it's a very good text nonetheless! Horrible, just horrible, I can't do anything but praise it even though I absolutely hate it.

(Long story short: A good write, although I absoballutely detest the henshin genre, even when made into a parody, wot.)
Nothing to be seen here. Do check out my little dabbling in the art of words, though.

Like Smoku suggested... it gets worse :P I'm glad you guys like it so far. When I posted the first chapter, I felt as if I should include an apology in advance. But then again, I'd probably need to include one with everything I write and well... I wouldn't mean it.

Extracurricular Activity
================================================================================================================================

“K-Kenji... what? What are you doing in m-my room?”

“Watching you sleep.”

“W-What?! T-That's p-p-perverted!”

“I know. You make funny noises when you sleep. You squeak a lot.”

“Wh-What do you want? What are you d-doing?”

“What, what, what? Goddamn you're just an assload of questions aren't you? If you really want to know, the nurse sent me here. You've been asleep for two days. By the way, you're welcome.”

“F-For what?”

“Changing your bedpans, giving you baths, and bringing your homework.”

“Ew-Ew-Ew! So you saw my...”

“And then some. Again, you're welcome. I swear, women... What an ungrateful bunch you all are...”

“Has it really been two days?” Hanako asked while looking out the window. The sky outside was a dull gray that could've been from dawn, or dusk. To make things even more disorienting, her bedside clock said that it was either six fifteen in the morning, or six fifteen in the evening.

“Yeah, it seems that we underestimated the impact that using all five weapons by yourself would have on your body. Ideally, it'd be split five ways, but since it's just you, you're really being drained.”

None of that really was all that surprising to Hanako. Ever since she began her crusade, she felt the penance increase relative to her growth in power and skill. She had no real trouble dealing with the nuGod wherever they emerged, but they were relentless. For every one she cut down, two more warped in to take their place. In the back of her mind, she bitterly mourned for those whose bodies were stolen to serve the nuGod. She tried her best to swallow that bitter pill. A handful of innocents were a small price to pay for the souls of billions.

Over time, Hanako learned how to combine aspects of her different powers into specific tools. By combining the stasis field from her ultimate shining armor with the celestial burn of her ultimate shining attack, Hanako found a way to contain and eliminate aliens without worldly bodies. She even found a way to collapse their portals whenever she came across them. Unfortunately, they opened far too briefly for her consistently seal them.

Tragically, her attempts to use her healing magic and stasis field in concert to purge aliens from humans only met with grisly tragedy as the nuGod painfully self destructed their vessels whenever trapped. The twisted faces full of distilled pain and fear haunted her. For brief moments while the masters self immolated, their vehicles regained control of themselves, only to beg for death as their organs turned to searing hot soup with their senses still sharp and heightened from their use as alien war machines.

The fact that she could still cry was the only bitter reminder that Hanako wasn't as dead inside as the hollowed out husks that the defiant demons left behind.

“Ikezawa, we have a problem,” Kenji moaned. “You're doing really great out there, but every time you're out of commission afterwards, it gives them a chance to bring in reinforcements, share intel, and worst of all, organize. Their internal chaos was always our main advantage. As far as we could tell, hierarchy and leadership was something that the invaders seemed completely unaware of. They've always attacked sporadically with no apparent strategy and only grouped together when large enough populations beamed in unchecked. As such, we concluded that their leaders must be on the other side.”

“Th-Then I'll just have to try harder and d-do a better job.”

“That's the spirit. If only it were as simple as that. My surveillance suggests that beings higher up on the food chain may have arrived already. You won't be dealing with brainless feeders anymore, but cold blooded schemers, the ones who've tried taking over the world with their Saturday morning cartoons and Feminism. They're escalating, Ikezawa, faster than ever before.”

“We're gonna lose this war, a-aren't we?”

“Yeah, probably, but we'll give them hell. When the time comes, we'll die well, on our own terms and their only prize would be a radioactive ball of ash without so much as bacteria to suck souls out of. But hey, enough doom and gloom, wanna fuck while we still are alive?”

“N-No!”

“Oh well, it was worth a shot. I'll just wait for when you're incapacitated next. How about we go downstairs and get you dinner, then? You must be starving.”

Hanako carried on the rest of her evening as if everything was normal. Well, as normal as possible. Yuuko was apparently on medical leave, while everyone else seemed appalled at Hanako's sudden and persistent closeness to Kenji. Even those who never paid either of them mind before were giving them dirty looks.

A tense, stifling calm that seemed to even drain the world of color carried on through to class the next day. Hanako's classmates seemed more detached from each other than ever, even Shizune and Misha. Hanako didn't bother skipping class, since she was behind and because Yuuko's replacement tended to be strict about students cutting class in his library.

After class, while the other students marched out like grim automatons, Mr. Mutou pulled Hanako aside.

“How are you holding up, Miss Ikezawa?”

“I-I guess I'm o-okay. I'll have the makeup work in t-tomorrow.”

“That's not what I wanted to know,” Mutou grimly uttered while flipping his left eyelid inside out to show the seal of the Illuminati tattooed on the inside.

“Mister Setou has kept me informed of your campaign. I do not envy your duty.”

“Y-You know? It... It's hard, teacher, I need help, please.”

“Miss Ikezawa, I would love to hold your hand through your mission, but my people are completely occupied doing everything in our power to keep the invasion under wraps. Even with the world's psychics trying to keep everyone calm while we pump sedatives into drinking water, we're barely a hair's breadth away from total chaos.”

“B-But how about weapons? I need s-something to save the-”

“Hanako, your abilities are as far above my organization's as ours are above the general population. You want to save those who have been lost? Take my advice, don't. I know you've tried saving them, and I know you've seen how they die. Everyone has to make sacrifices in these dark days. Just pray that the next one won't be someone you love.”

Mutou opened his jacket to show a huge, holstered revolver tucked under his left arm.

“Our training and neural implants makes us unappetizing to the nuGod and in theory impervious to takeover,” he continued in an ominous monotone voice. “However, there may come a time when one of those creatures will try to use me. When that time comes, I hope to God that I'll be able to resist long enough to send a half-inch slug through my brain and maybe take one of those motherfuckers out with me. I am willing to sacrifice my friends, my family, and myself to defy the nuGod. If you plan on even surviving, you must be willing to do the same.”

Even though she was already a trained killer, Hanako had a hard time swallowing the surge of emotions that were erupting from her chest. It was hard enough to slaughter strangers, but the possibility of killing someone she loved, or even someone she merely knew on a first-name basis had hit close to home. Without any further words exchanged, Hanako headed back to her room to meditate in preparation for the next alien harvest.

When she was fully recharged that night, Hanako crawled out of her window and bounded up the side of the building to get to the roof. By then, her body had changed to the point where even in her mundane form, she was capable of unusual feats of physical strength and metaphysical awareness.

She took a deep breath and soaked in the spiritual and radioactive emissions around her. She sensed vague signatures of nuGod movement, but all were too passive to home in on. Over the horizon, she felt flashes of interdimensional portals open and close in brief instants.

It was the worst possible situation. They were flooding in and preparing for an attack. Hanako had to strike somewhere, but where? The aliens were so evenly spread out and in such vast numbers that she'd have to cut a huge swath of collateral damage just to make a difference. In the worst way possible, she was called to action.

“Good evening Hanachaaaaan...” a familiar but unearthly staccato voice said from the door to the staircase.

“Sh-Shiina...”

“You don't have to be so formal with me Hanachan. You can call us Misha. Everyone does.”

“Wh-What are you doing to Shiina?”

“Don't be like that. I'm just being her friend. Like we should have been. What's a friend but someone you can be close to... and share secrets with? Do you have a secret you would like to share with us, Hanachan?”

“N-No. Leave Shiina alone. P-Please.”

“I already know your secrets, Hanachan, so... we are already halfway friends, aren't we? You want to know a secret?” the alien asked with a disjointed imitation of Misha's voice, “Misha has always liked you. Despite your differences, she wanted so hard to be your friend... and maybe more. It's not... too late to do that, don't ya know? Come... join us, Hanachan. We can all be friends, together, forever...”

“N-No! Leave Shiina's body, o-o-or else!”

The alien's menacing playfulness melted into hateful rage. The face that belonged to Misha became mottled with dark veins when the alien rewrote her biology to suit its immediate needs.

“Fine,” the alien snarled through snapping fangs, “go play dress up and let's get this over with. The sooner I finish sucking your flesh off your bones, the sooner I can get back to playing with this delightful bitch of mine.”

Hanako fought the urge to take a swing at the creature without changing and took up her transformation pose.

“I-In... In the... IN THE NAME OF LOVE, I COMMAND YOU TO HALT!”

“Fascinating,” the alien noted while watching her transform, “I've heard about this, but I've never seen it myself, I wonder what happens if I interrupt your wardrobe change...”

The parasite scorched Misha's hands to a crisp when it tried breaching the dimensional boundary that enveloped Hanako. Undeterred, it continued to smash its body against the barrier, only to be encased in lightning with every futile attempt. Hanako reached out and tried desperately to stop the sequence but she was too far along. The mightiest human on Earth stood idly by while her classmate was seared alive. When Hana-chama emerged from her shell of light, the parasite did not lunge at her.

“That's a very dirty trick of yours. Fortunately, I've got one of my own. I don't feel pain. But do you know who does?”

The nuGod vanished from Misha's face and momentarily left behind its terrified owner.

“Hanachan... it hurts... help me...” Misha cried with bloody tears running down her face, before instantly becoming a mutant again.

“That poor, poor child. I can keep this up all day. I could even heal her wounds if I wanted to, but I won't. Because... because fuck you, that's why.”

“You're gonna pay for this...”

“And so will poor sweet, stupid little Misha. What are you going to do about it now?”

“I'm going to save her!” Hana-chama announced when she lunged at the nuGod with her divine spear charged with containment energies and healing magic. She had been struggling to find the perfect mix of radiation and regeneration to find a cure for alien infestation and every attempt had a different formula. Starting at the feet, Misha's body slowly was enveloped with Hana-chama's latest cure. With the field slowly creeping up, the parasite taunted obstinately while Misha screamed with her agony rising.

“I'm... almost... there...” Hana-chama said through gritted teeth while purging Misha's soul of its stowaway. Misha's cries turned into a deafening shriek that climaxed with her head exploding with a thunderclap into a flurry that spread bloody flaps of pink-haired scalp and brain matter everywhere.

“What the hell were you trying to do?” Mutou demanded while holstering his hand-cannon.

“I-I-I could have saved her!”

“That monster already roasted her skin, and you were going to subject Miss Mikado to the nuGod's final revenge?”

“No! I could've, I... I... No. I know she was too far gone, I just hoped...” Hana-chama wept when she dropped to her knees.

“Hope is a wonderful thing,” Mutou said while pulling her back to her feet, “but save it for the living.”

“W-What are you doing here?”

“The housing department summoned me to this building. I'm sorry.”

“What is it?”

“Lilly Satou is missing.”

You invented a new genre: "Magical Girl-Splatter"...
Anything containing splatter is not really my favourite genre, and neither do I like seeing characters I like getting killed off one after another, but despite that - very good writing as always.
Emi > Misha > Hanako > Lilly > Rin > Shizune

...uh-oh.

No yuri this chapter...

================================================================================================================================
Violated
================================================================================================================================

The Illuminati had to keep the student body at Yamaku doped up nearly around the clock after Misha's “tragic bus accident” and Lilly's sudden absence. Even without the bliss-drugs, Hanako's classmates were lost, confused, and definitely off balance. Everyone was hurting over Misha's loss and Lilly's vanishing, but nobody grieved harder than Shizune.

With the entire herd sick and confused, the nuGod delighted in picking them off. One by one, Hanako's schoolmates disappeared once they became deliciously vulnerable enough. Some were used as vessels, while others were outright devoured, flesh and soul. Hana-chama, Kenji, Mutou, and the Illuminati's problem-solvers scrambled day and night to stem the tide of kidnappings and cannibalism, but with devastating precision, the invaders were always too fast for them.

Room 3-3 was a shadow of what it was before. Only a handful of students remained. Misha was gone and before long Shizune was absent too. Cannibalistic emanations leaked from the souls of most of those who remained behind.

“I've got good news, and I've got really fucking shitty news,” Mutou conferred to Hanako after class. “First, our initial reports were exaggerated. The nuGod invasion is not nearly as widespread nor organized as we thought. They merely opened up portals worldwide to sew chaos. Our sweepers and espers report that the worldwide invasion is largely contained.”

“S-So that's good, right?”

“No, that's the really fucking shitty news. With the sudden lack of information concerning alien activity, we can expect a REAL attack to be imminent, since they've already tested the waters. The world's armed forces are now fully mobilized, DEFCON 1, BIKINI Red, Vigipirate Scarlet, and all that jazz. But don't worry, the cobalt bombs are operational and Kouki Heavy Industries is synthesizing weapons-grade antimatter at maximum capacity. Worst comes to worst, we're going out with a bang.”

“So wh-what's the good news?!”

“The one place where we do have good information concerning the invasion is right here. As of now, Yamaku is the nexus of alien activity. We have psionics-trained units of the SDF containing a hundred kilometer circle around us. The nuGod have us besieged at school, so we turned things around right back at them. Once they're confident that the perimeter is secure, this godforsaken school is getting vaporized.”

“B-But what about us? And our friends?”

“Eh? Oh, I guess we can leave. Personally, I'd rather not deal with the wife anymore so I'm perfectly fine with going down swinging. As for your... friends, Miss Ikezawa, you might as well write them off. Yes, human life is the most precious thing in the world, but if you let yourself value certain lives over others, you'll lose your objectivity and the enemy will use that against us. You saw what they did to Miss Mikado. That wasn't to hurt Shiina, it was to hurt YOU. There are three sides to this war. Us, them, and collateral damage.”

Mutou's bleak forecast of things to come was interrupted with a timid knocking on the door.

“Excuse me... Mr. Mutou... is Hanako there?” A sullen voice asked from beyond the door.

“Yes, Mr. Nakai, she's almost done here. Just a moment.”

Mutou sighed and turned his attention back to Hanako.

“Ikezawa, I suggest you make your peace with him now, while you still can. Make memories right now, or else you'll regret it forever once the time comes.”

“B-But...”

“Go to him, Hanako.”

Outside the school building, Hanako and Hisao went for a walk and shared affectionate glances to the extent allowed by the fog of sedate misery and impending doom that hung over the school. He was almost astounded when she took the initiative and latched onto him by the arm as they walked. In another lifetime, Hanako would have never done that. But those were strange days when every moment counted.

“Hey, Hanako, with all this weird stuff going on, we've been too busy to hang out with each other, huh?”

“Y-Yeah.”

“So, how are you and Kenji doing?”

“K-Kenji?!”

“Aren't you guys...”

“N-No... NO! He... He helped me with some homework, that's all...”

“So, you don't have a thing for Kenji?”

“No, n-no way. Absolutely no- Wh-What's so funny?”

“Oh, nothing,” Hisao chuckled. “But you should really see how flustered you look right now. It's okay, I believe you. I'm a bit relieved, really. I thought I had hit a new low in life... where I was jealous of Kenji of all people.”

“Wh-Why would you be jealous?”

“Isn't it obvious? Because he gets to hang out with you all the time.”

“Hisao... I... I-If I knew...”

“I guess I'm just as transparent as you hare, huh? Hey, when things get normal again... when Lilly comes back from her vacation, we should go hang out or something. Maybe the three of us could go to the beach or...”

“I-I wouldn't mind if it was just the two of us,” Hanako said with her face buried in his chest. Although hope still was alive, her rational mind was telling her that Lilly was already dead and that she should move on.

“Hanako, I... I need to tell you something. I'm really glad to have met you here. If I didn't meet you and Lilly, I feel as though I would have been alone forever. Thanks to you guys... but especially you, I've come to accept this school as home. Hanako, I... I think I-”

“I LOVE YOU, HISAO!” she blurted out.

“Heh, took the words right out of my mouth,” he laughed while blushing like a red wine stain on white carpet. “Well, without the 'Hisao' part. I love you too, Hanako.”

Hisao brushed Hanako's hair aside and got a good look at her. Before the nightmare, she would have never let anyone do that to her, not even Hisao. Had he not confessed that day, she still wouldn't have let him. She didn't want her cover to be blown when someone discovered that her scars shrank and faded while her bust and hips grew every time she had to regenerate after a battle.

It was stupid, really, and she knew it. Hanako was the strongest and arguably most important human being on Earth, yet she was hiding like the scared, broken girl she always was. At that moment, she decided “no more” and gave him a smile she had been saving for years upon years. She had nothing to be ashamed of. Someone loved her for who she was. The fact that she looked almost as acceptable as she wanted to be by that point was a bonus.

They kissed as if there was no tomorrow, because as far as Hanako knew, there wasn't.

...

“I think we need to keep this beanbag chair.”

“Why?”

“It seems that we can't get away from it. When we first met, I mean, really met, you were sitting here reading that... I don't even remember what book it was but I remember that petrified stare you gave me. And I was watching you read when I first realized that I was in love with you. And now, here we are, desecrating the school library on our beanbag chair of fate.”

Hanako playfully shoved Hisao off of her and got dressed. They had not seen any library staff or students the whole time they were there, but they weren't about to take any chances, even with their whirlwind afternoon romance disregarding all other consequences.

“Hey, Hanako,” Hisao asked while she helped him straighten up his uniform, “I've been meaning to ask you something. It's kinda weird and you really don't have to answer if you don't want to.”

“Yes?” she asked, ready to answer anything with no fear, no stutters, and no inhibitions.

“Something is happening out there, huh? I know it. I asked Kenji about it the other day and instead of his usual rantings, he kept a tight lip about it. I can't quite add it up, but I don't think kids are just leaving school. Something sinister is in the air. I think we're all in danger. I hear rumors of murders, beatings, rapes, kidnappings by like... crazy people or something. But I also hear that... at least one person out there is trying to help. Now this is gonna sound stupid, but... Hanako, are you a superhero?”

“No, Hisao, I'm not.”

“Oh. Forget I said anything.”

“...There's nothing super or heroic about what I do. I do what I have to do. For every person I help, I kill at least one innocent.”

“Hanako, I'm sorry... What exactly is happening? Is it like, a disease?”

“Aliens.”

“Aliens, huh?” he laughed morbidly. “If you were anyone else, even with things happening the way they were, I'd run far, far away as fast as I could. It's like I'm living in one of Kenji's delusions, but... somehow I feel better hearing that my crazy conclusions are valid. We live in interesting times, don't we, Hanako?”

“Yeah, I guess we do...”

"Well, I'm glad it's not feminists. I would've hated for Kenji to be right all along."

"Feminists are part of it," Hanako murmured slowly, trying her best to avoid stuttering when sharing such dark news. "They're invisible aliens from a-another dimension. They eat human souls for food, and eat human flesh for fun. They d-don't have bodies of their own, so they take control of people..."

"Damn. Are you serious?"

"Y-Yeah, it's really bad..."

"Nah, everything is going to be just fine. After all, my girlfriend is a superhero. Had I known this day, last year, that I would fall in love with the girl who would save the world from bodysnatching aliens, I wouldn't believe it, no way. But," Hisao said while tenderly leaning against Hanako's shoulder, "even if this is a delusion, I don't want to wake up. Thank you."

Hanako reached up to run her fingers through Hisao's hair and said "No, thank you for-"

Hanako's words were abruptly cut by a high pitched shriek only she could hear.

“Get down!”

A nuGod without form was approaching. With the whine of a supernatural mosquito, the blurry ripple plied its say through thin air in search for a biological host. Hanako cowered over Hisao who laid on the ground to taint his soul with the bitterness she acquired. Without her elevated form, her powers were severely limited and she couldn't transform in order to dispatch the alien without leaving Hisao open for infestation.

“Is it an alien?” he whispered.

“Yeah. Shh...”

After many tense moments in an awkward position, Hanako looked up and opened her mind. She sensed no amorphous hate floating around, but something did not seem right about...

“H-Hanako... I... something is wrong with me.”

“Hisao! Am I hurting you?”

While he struggled to give a clear response, his right hand swung up from the floor and grabbed her around the neck.

“Hanako! I... I can't help this!” Hisao begged as his thumb and forefinger saught to meet each other on the backside of Hanako's windpipe. “Please... make me stop!”

Slowly, not due to difficulty but for fear of injuring Hisao, Hanako removed the errant hand from her throat.

“Hanako, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to. I just felt some... heat come through the floor.”

“Hisao, talk to me. Don't let your mind stop thinking for a moment. The more active your thoughts are, the longer you'll resist.”

“I'm scared. It feels like my soul is swimming in my head. Everything I see, feel, and hear just seems to get further and further away.”

“Stay with me, Hisao!” she cried.

“Hanako, be honest. Is there a cure?”

Even if she said something, tears streaming down her face would have told him exactly what was happening.

“You should go. I think it's... taking over me. I don't want to hurt you again.”

“I'll be fine. I'm a ...superhero, remember?” she whimpered with an anguished half-smile.

With equal parts passion, desperation, and sentimentality, Hanako pushed Hisao back onto the beanbag and ravished him in a bid to save his life. He had resisted far better than any victim she had seen before. She hypothesized that their swapping of bodily fluids transferred some of her nanites into him and was slowing down the infection. Maybe, she hoped, that if he had enough in his system, he could be cured.

But even at that early stage, he was already gone. Hisao's graying, blotched skin drove the point home that no amount of sexual contact could save him. He shuddered and convulsed as he tried to maintain control of his faculties.

“H-Hanako... I have to die, don't I?”

“No... I won't do it. Not again...”

“Please, I don't want to be a slave. Give me peace while there's still something of me left.“

“Hisao, I'm so sorry. If it wasn't for me...”

“If it wasn't for you, the world would be a far, far worse place than it already is. Don't ever let anyone tell you differently. And... hey. At least I go down with a smile...”

Hanako tried, and tried again to raise her hands in invocation, but she couldn't. Not to Hisao.

“Please, I want to see how... you look. I want you to save me.”

Coldly, she took up her pose, clasped her hands together in the shape of a heart, and with all the showmanship she could muster for Hisao's benefit, she screamed, “IN THE NAME OF LOVE, I COMMAND YOU TO HALT!”

Hana-chama emerged from her dimensional bubble more radiant and powerful looking than ever before. Her skin glowed with her biomechanical energy emitters on full blast. It wasn't for any old battle, it was for Hisao.

“So... beautiful...” Hisao croaked with barely audible words as the alien forced his feet to her. The Valkyrie quickly closed the distance with him and overpowered the nuGod's augmented strength with her own.

“Ultimate Shining Love,” she whispered with one final kiss to send Hisao off with.

“Thank you for today,” He said, still clinging on to sanity.

Hana-chama backed off slowly and raised her polearm to towards Hisao. Once she felt her aim to be true, she closed her eyes and gathered spiritual energy.

“Wait, no. Hanako... please, open your eyes. I want them to be the last thing I see...”

She obliged and gave him the most blissful, loving gaze and sincere smile she could buster. With no real enemies to intimidate, Hana-chama telepathically activated her weapons for her final act instead of calling out her attacks. First, a stasis field locked Hisao in place, then the explosive power of her plasma torch filled her spearhead.

She omitted the usual “Ultimate Shining Attack!” and settled for “Goodbye, Hisao,” when she pulled the mental trigger. In an instant, Hisao and the demon within disintegrated into nothingness, leaving nothing but a pair of footprints scorched into the carpet.

...

Still glowing white-hot with sorrow, Hana-chama made her way to the school's main courtyard, carrying several awkwardly large fiberglass crates she found in Kenji's workshop. The various students fled the immediate area at the sight of grieving rage made form marching through their halls.

Hana-chama opened the crates and prepared an array of meter-high stainless steel cylinders from within. With a press of a button on her remote control, the devices came to life. Half were high-pressure aerosol dispensers that dumped augmented human scents into the air, not unlike the ones Kenji sprayed upon her to begin her awakening, while the other canisters were antennae that emitted human brain waves to emulate particularly appetizing souls.

It was nuGod-bait. One way or another, the aliens were going to come.

Nimbly, the Valkyrie jumped upon a post on the outer gate and watched her handiwork. In the bushes, she saw movement. On the road up the hill, she saw movement. Even around the edges of the school's courtyard within the gate, she saw movement. Everywhere she looked, blobs of barely human creatures headed her way. Hana-chama twirled her spear around to gather spiritual energy from spatial ether. The spearhead constructed out of nanites morphed into a crescent-shaped emitter for a wide-angle spray of destruction.

The first of the nuGod arrived at the base of the outer wall. She recognized most of them. They were nice people who could have been her friends in another lifetime. No, they could have been Hanako's friends. Hana-chama was a different person. Hanako died along with her Hisao. There were no friends left to worry about, only the mission.

“Ultimate Shining ATTACK!” the wrathful heroine screamed when she unleashed the power of a thousand suns upon the infestation. By the dozens, they melted away, but kept coming. No matter how coherent or verbally belligerent the nuGod were, they were all dumb, hungry animals who listened to their appetites above all.

The battle may have been hopeless, but by God, Hana-chama was going to make the aliens hurt for everything they did to Hisao and Hanako.

With bursts of that tore through space itself, Hana-chama's barrage decimated the alien horde. The residue from their carcasses smoldered as if they were from funeral pyres in memory of the innocents.

The storm of hellfire ceased only when Hana-chama no longer felt the presence of nuGod approaching. Cautiously, she lowered her weapon and powered down her systems.

Suddenly, she sensed a void in the universe rocketing towards her with fantastic speed. Before she could summon her armor, a torrential force knocked her off her perch, towards the school building, through several walls, back outside, and onto the ground.

The Valkyrie came to her senses in the end of a long ditch she herself carved with the impact. Looking up, she saw her enemy. It felt different from the others. Was it one of the nuGod overlords Kenji warned her about?

Peeking up from within the crater, she saw a pair of indigo boots fall from the sky and land with an earth-shaking thud. Her enemy appeared to be wearing a perversion of the Yamaku uniform, with a royal blue cape and matching skirt. Its female form was topped with locks of cobalt-blue hair that stuck together to form razor-like spikes. Behind oval glasses, she saw nothing but pure evil. It breathed with a mechanical wheeze that sounded like bursts from circular saws.

“You killed my brothers and sisters,” it shrieked with an industrial sounding clang that was independent from its idly drooling mouth.

“What are you?”

“Your master. Submit or die.”

While the alien chief waited for an answer, its gloved talons plucked something out from a pouch behind its back. It was a clump of fabric, dripping in blood... it was Lilly's hair bow and the creature was licking up the oozing blood with a grotesquely long and prehensile tongue.

“I'd rather die.”

“So be it.” the nuGod decreed when it raised a winged scepter to Hana-chama's face.

With a thunderbolt of pain, everything went black.
