Emi at her Emiest figurine

Post by watty »

So I've been working on a figurine for the last couple of days and I just wanted to get some feedback. It's not finished yet, and I'm aware of the face not being quite right, I'm also going to try to smooth out the bumps before I paint the legs, but yeah is there anything else I should change?

Finished! Just have to spray it with some gloss after the paint dries. For some reason it looks much better in person than in pics. :x

over 70 views and no replies? huh.
oh well, I just want to say that I like how you made it turn out. :) It still looks a bit rough, but as you put it, this is definitely Emi at her Emiest.
Just outta curiosity, why did you ball her right hand into a fist?

Thanks, appreciated!
I had to use a wire skeleton under the polymer clay, and sometimes after a while if I cover the wire with a thin amount (like fingers) the clay breaks off, so I decided it would probably hold together better if I made at least one hand into a fist.
I only just realized that I could have smoothed out the bumps with turpentine before baking, but live and learn I guess.

Did you use a wire frame before sculpting? Because it seems that you didn't.
You can't fix all those errors while sculpting, but when you have the skeleton, you can change shapes and poses before you apply your material of choice. this helps preventing odd body shapes, "rubber" hands and feet and overall inhumanity of a figure.

Yes! Her fingers seem slightly too thick, but otherwise, this is really cool!
