... to work at all.

Hello,

Unless you run a distribution that is incompatible with wine and/or your computer is not powerfull enough to use the wine VM, I recommend using it.

In case you encounter any issue, I advise you use the wine beta version (available on their website and in the Ubuntu Software Center).
