Amusingly if you look at the movie the reason is most of the Jaeger's don't move much while in combat. Cherno Alpha is specifically mentioned to have spikes in it feet that anchor it to the seafloor. That and the arms usually have the biggest threats in terms of weapons,Tesla Fists(Cherno), Plasmacaster/Chain Sword/Pulse Launcher(Gipsy), Plasmacaster/Rotating Claws(Crimson), "Sting Blades"(they're thermal swords)(Striker)

So I'm not the only one who looked through a 3-4 year old post and wanted to necro it just to reply to that, good, this is good.
