@DuaneMoody,
Alright you got to tell me how you got the heart thing to work. I tried a few times, but kept getting the background in the pick.

Haha, that's amazing! I could almost imagine Hanako saying that, too.

It wasn't easy.
It involved making two screencaps (one with dark screen and heart and one normal), overlaying them as layers in photoshop, making the "normal" layer as dark as the heart layer (go into Layers and scrub the Output Levels whitepoint back to 173), and then changing the heart layer (the one on top) to Difference to effectively subtract all the forest background image, resulting in a black screen with the red "your retinas are going to burst, Hisao" pattern.
Then, because I wasn't smart enough to pick these screencaps from Emi's race, I had to remove the snowflakes with the rubber stamp tool.
Then, I flattened the two layers to one image and put my Yuuko screencap underneath it, changing the red heart image transparency to about 30% and changing the layer mode to Pin Light to make it burst out of the screencap. I may have futzed with the red heart image's own levels beforehand.
I'd post the image but the devs have already gone on record that they don't like the forum being used to post game assets and I think posting the text template was pushing my luck even if they haven't said anything about it to me yet.
FWIW the one someone else made from scratch for a series of shoops was just as good. (The shoops were Rin in the ladies' room telling you she couldn't find Emi and you'll have to change her tampon -- you start to black out toward the end)

Well i wouldn't want you to get in trouble or anything. I manged to make it work, with the direction you gave me. Also during my picture hunt, i managed to figure another way to get the text box.
I made this, using the new 'heart pictures' i made

BTW, "playtime with hot toddies" is the official KS text font. It's freeware.

That's because
Playtime's been compiled into the game code and is not visible as an asset. I only figured it out by looking at the PDF manual's embedded font list.
Shoopers will note that this font doesn't actually have a bold face (as seen in the character name titles); the libSDL_ttf code inside Ren'Py's pygame framework is likely generating it on the fly by rendering the font outlines with a thicker pixel border.

yeah i did figure that there was no bold option on the other font. Basically i was just cutting a character name out of a text box and placing it into mine. I'm curious; why was"DejaVuSans.ttf" font left in the program folder if it wasn't being used. I got the impression (before your last post) that if i were to replace that font with another one. The game would use that.

DejaVu Sans is the default font that Ren'Py uses if you don't specify (i.e. embed) another. Because it's a clone of Verdana, most people playing Ren'Py games probably think they're looking at a system font instead of a font embedded in the game.
Since DVS isn't used in KS, I doubt swapping another font in its place (even if it was renamed to match) would make the game not use Playtime. The Ren'Py build process automatically packages DVS whether or not your game uses it.

I see, but you to admit they do look pretty similar. When i made my first 'screen shot' I overlay ed an actual one, to make sure i got the location of the text right. (Were the text appears in the font box) And even retyped what was in the original one, to make use i was using the corrected font. Looking the same i when with it, but not that you mention it their is a slight difference in them. I honestly didn't see notice it till you mentioned something.

not only is that pure awesome, but there's only one answer to that question: "Yes."

Emi = Hanako > Lilly > Rin >>>>>>> Shizune
amazing how preference changes now that the game's actually out.
Akira/Hanako for the win. Meiko/Nurse for even more win.
Miki/Misha for win that goes BEYOND THE IMPOSSIBLE.

I've been in and out of graphic design for longer than I care to admit, so this is one area where the differences that may be minor to you are glaring to me. Other people put anime and porn on their iPods, I carry around a PBS documentary on
the history of Helvetica in my pocket.
It's an hour long.
(edit: it's 90 minutes long, link above)

Cool, got a link for that documentary? I like that kind of stuff.
