Fan Music; Suzu Suzuki's B Theme

Post by Rune »

Er...

I'm not sure if anyone's actually going to see this, which is saddening. This subforum doesn't seem very popular.

But, I wrote a brief theme piece for Suzu Suzuki.

The "B Theme" simply means that this would be a piece that would probably play during her hypothetical animation after Act 1; to fit with the others, it is both short and almost entirely piano. (eg "Jitter", "Cloudland Swing) as opposed to what I privately call the "A Theme" ("Painful History", "Parity").

Thusly, I present to you: Dream of Flying:

Constructive criticism would be lovely.

I'm really struggling to think of some criticism to offer, because this is really good. I suppose the melody could be stronger; the most memorable section begins at 0:49 and lasts till the end. But you know, that's hardly a criticism, because I think Suzu's intro should sound this scattershot, with the simple, one-finger intro that leads into a tense middle section with minor note arpeggios (I'm probably using all sorts of wrong words here, can you tell I'm not a musician?), ending in the uplifting (but sort of sad?) semi-hopeful bit at the end.

I've been a Suzu fan for a while now, and I've imagined what her intro animation might be like if she had a route. Now there's music that fits perfectly with that daydream. 10/10. :D
"I wonder what is it about the rain?"
"Everything."

Ahhh.

I wrote 0:39 (I think this is what you meant, 0:49 is in the middle of a phrase) --> 1:00 immediately after reading one of the Suzu Suzuki fanroutes. Everything else was written around it long after the fact (3AM yesterday, actually). I don't write as well like that, unfortunately. But perhaps it was better this way; the murky melody of the first forty seconds symbolizes the general confusion in both her life and her dreams...then she wakes up. And it's all pretty happy except for that little breath of sadness and longing.

As for the arpeggios, well...I'm really not sure what you'd call them. They're very weird. All I can say with reasonable certainty is that they're probably arpeggios...which isn't actually certain at all. Ah well.

Thank you for your comment! I'll probably begin planning her A theme soon.
