Voice acting?

I've gotten a few people interested in this project, namely voicing the characters. You could call me a voice talent agent at this rate, haha.

Question is, since the testing is by voice samples, shouldn't the applicants be given certain lines for the characters to find good matches?

There will be no voices in this game.

Edit: Unless curd changes his mind. I sure hope he doesn't.

Good to see a non-dev taking an official position for the project.

Well, I am just going by the fact that that is what was decided over a year ago and has not changed since.

My position on "bonus" things like this has always been the same:
-If it is of a high enough quality and
-If it doesn't delay the game by a second
-If all the devs agree that it is worthwhile and will improve the game
Then it will be considered.

The last time we considered it we came out with a resounding "no".
That doesn't mean that we will say "no" again, but it does mean that there is a much greater activation energy required to start something like this.

Unless we have better technology with english language voicing and the technician, this will be very unlikely to happen.

I think only Shizune would sound good with vocaloid or other voice synth, becuase well... you get it...

From my experience vocaloid only sounds good while singing, not in a talking tone.

Wait, Vocaloid sounds good while singing... Katawa Shoujou: The Musical!

look out, disney's going to discover this post and will make it a reality, of course it will be IRL, and HSM's cast will return to play cripples. :D

What about voice acting small things, like reaction noises and the like? "huh?", "Oh!", Sigh...", "Hello!", "HEY THERE!!!"...etc.

I would agree that full voice acting would be stupid, but just little things give the characters a further sense of connection to the player....well, save for Shizune, but to hear her snicker when she does the >B3 face would make my day...

Also, If voice acting is thought about, I would like to voice for Muto, I'm too deep for Kenji or Hisao, and for some reason, I imagine Johnny Young Bash when I read the nurses lines....

I can see that it's too difficult to fully voice the game, but just inserting general greetings, gasps, giggles, and minor sound effects sound like a good idea. I support it.
