Have Your Parents ever Confronted You about Katawa Shoujo?

Post by poopooface »

So, I'm pretty sure somebody there's a few of you on here younger than 18(Hopefully not by much). So this question is for you.
So, a while ago, my dad noticed I had consistently had tabs on the forum open and checked them while I wasn't around. He asked me what the forums were when I was about, and since it's hard to justify a Visual Novel with crippled Hentai, I consistently tried to dodge the question, but he probably already figured out what this was about. The next day he's helping me with something on my computer, and in the searchbar the first result he sees when I put in the letter 'p' is Pornhub, now I'm pretty sure from when he's told me multiple times while going through puberty, that with him, porn was not okay, but I'm pretty sure seeing this site has caused him to give up on me(not literally though, that would be tragic). I mean, he just sighed, I should've been ashamed but the reaction was hilarious. So have any of you had a similar experience with finding about your time with KS?

I'm not sure what this topic is. The title asks about being confronted over KS. The post tells a tale of having your porn search history uncovered. These are two entirely different things unless one goes out of their way to locate KS porn.

In either case, I have my own computer so nobody knows exactly what's on it anyway. And just in case of snooping, all the sensitive stuff (porn, nudes both real and fake, VNs of questionable content, etcetera) is buried ten folders deep inside my Documents, each folder innocently named and full of random pictures and text files, with the last folder compiled into a password-protected archive. Said password consists of fifty-three characters including spaces, capitalization, and punctuation. (A file pinned to the start menu, when ran, unzips said archive automatically but nobody would know it had done this. And nobody ever pays attention to the start menu anyway.)

And when scenarios arise where autocomplete might cause problems, I just type really fast so it doesn't get the chance.

As for KS, the most I've gotten is the occasional "What's that thing on your iphone?" in reference to my iphone wallpaper.

My parents are of the generation who remember the Japanese Empire and their attempted control of the 'Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere'. Since my mother taught in a Japanese school for 30 years, she just laughed and shook her head. My father, as a historian of the transition from colonial 'long' 19th century to 'postmodern' post-colonial (i.e. post-1960s) era, just gave me a sceptical look.

First of all, the idea was that due to the finding of KS, my dad instead of scolding me for having watched porn, probably just lost all faith in me after that.

Second, pretty secure dude.

Third, the only reason he caught it was because I had to go back cause I was trying to type too fast so he couldn't see it and ended up making a typo.

Fourth, I have a KS wallpaper too but it's of Hanako. I mean, I'm not afraid to say what it is to certain people, cause I'm already in the Anime Club at school.

My parents pretty much think that all anime is hentai, and that all hentai is horrible filth that needs to be burned along with the people that use it.

Suffice to say, I haven't told them jack shit about Emi, or even Katawa Shoujo in general. I swear, my parents are super cool most of the time, but they can be so closed-minded with stuff like this.

I know they've SEEN the forums as I regularly have a tab open, but I'm careful with the tab that the main screen is on - and I DON'T leave my computer unlocked when I leave it EVER, as I have 2 brothers. They know of my interest in Japan and anime but I don't think it bothers them too much, although again, I'm careful with what I watch around them. No one knows WHAT KS is mind, aside from 'a visual novel which I like', and I intend it to stay that way for the foreseeable future. (I'm 19 in 3 days, but still live with my parents. Just thought I'd clarify.)

EDIT: I did once have to give a potted explanation of it to my friend though - I have a rotating wallpaper and one of them that came up was this beaut: http://www.deviantart.com/art/An-Offer- ... -144684219, so I figured I should probably explain :P

Once I was using my laptop at a point where my desktop was like this http://i.gyazo.com/91a02d2371ead9e35de211db791bfc41.png

I was questioned about who the characters were, So i was just like "Its a Visual Novel about a kid going to a disabled school, pretty interesting" and my dad was just like, "So whats wrong with the dude?" and after i told him "Arrythmia" he just mumbled "Your granddad had that" and walked off.

Still, my current desktop is http://i.imgur.com/GdkFO5V.jpg and his only response to that was "Who's the armored chick" so when i responded with "King Arthur" he simply looked at me and walked off.

But to be fair my parents are pretty okay with my Japan/Anime interests, and they know Im planning to move there after uni.

Heck I even play Fate Hollow Ataraxia while sat next to them half the time, fortunatly there is little to no sexual content in the main scenario.
