I love the interpretation of Pac-Man where he's a just a lowly worker retrieving golf balls left all over the course by the rich masters and the ghosts are all previous workers who got conked on the head and killed by incoming golf balls in the line of duty.

Once upon a time, there was an illustrator who drew up the first page of a Katawa Shoujo manga. It was high quality, and all the little boys and all the little girls wanted more. Then one day, he told the children that he only planned on making that one page and crushed all of their dreams in one fell swoop. Nobody lived happily ever after.
