If you hop on her head, she goes away to an art university in Tokyo.

Yes, Rin is a Goomba.

And this expression is why Shizune is bestgirl:

I love the interpretation of Pac-Man where he's a just a lowly worker retrieving golf balls left all over the course by the rich masters and the ghosts are all previous workers who got conked on the head and killed by incoming golf balls in the line of duty.

Also note that Misha is a bound chain chomp. And Angry Lakitu Shizune is floating above, glaring down upon her...

Deliberate Mario-based metaphor for Shizune's slave-driving ways?

Probably not.

Over analyzing a silly picture?

Probably yes.

Because if there's one thing we never do here, it's over-analyze things.

Honestly, the whole thing seems better thought-out than I expected…

That first Goomba Rin picture always makes me feel uneasy.
I don't know why.
Like stupid, silly doodles with no point? You've come to the right place, friend :^)
I also occasionally write oneshots. Why not have a skimread?

It's because you know she's hot, and you're uncomfortable with your fungus fetish. It's okay dude, nobody's judging you.

Every time I see that, I try and figure out the actual facial equivalent of this expression... and every time I draw a blank.

Ability to make a facial expression almost impossible for humans? Definite bestgirl material there.

It's still Rin though.
Because green eyes are best eyes.
