Of course, I like to think the story here is the door was locked so Misha enthusiastically ripped out a section of wall.

Yes, that's the point. But with text, the editor is needed so that the reader can figure out what's going on.
As dewelar also found out, when writing Rin fanfics, it's extremely difficult to be able to do it from Rin's POV.

I can imagine it's super hard to do that, though.
