Although there is a solution... run it off of Lilly's bad end, and I have reason to believe that
Akira owns the summer home, not Hiroyuki and Karla.
"Hey, Hanako, we're not using that summer home, if you want to move up by Hakodate..."

Who and who?
I love the interpretation of Pac-Man where he's a just a lowly worker retrieving golf balls left all over the course by the rich masters and the ghosts are all previous workers who got conked on the head and killed by incoming golf balls in the line of duty.

Hiroyuki and Karla Satou I should say.
(Neither of their names appears in canon, but Hiroyuki's been given as Akira and Lilly's father's name in the Ask thread, and Karla's been given as their mother's name in some art in the Shimmie.)

Dogs aren't really that bothered by aesthetics, so she wouldn't have to worry about looking like a badly cooked Steak. The dog will love her unconditionally and she will love it back.
On top of that, she could identify with a certain type of dog. A dog that people see in the street and cross the road to avoid. A scary dog.
However, she could also do with a big, cuddly dog that is essentially a pillow.
Therefore, I match Hanako with a Tibetan Mastiff.

Don't you worry, your Tibetan Mastiff also comes a built-in 'attack mode'!"

Okay, does that remind anyone else of Mouse from the Dresden Files? Really big, friendly when he wants to be, very much
not friendly when he needs to be...

That would probably work out quite well for Hanako. Although Hakodate is a big city, where the summer house is nicely out the way, and I think something was mentioned about there being a shop a couple of miles away so presuming she took her bear-dog, she might feel safe enough to make her way there on her own (that is, with no other human). Whether or not being at the summer house without Lilly would be too painful for Hanako, is another matter mind.

Hakodate is actually fairly small as far as cities go, population 279,851.
(And, it being Hakodate that's nearby isn't actually canon, that's just an extrapolation from the times involved in that scene of Lilly's route, really.)
