I've noticed a lot more how people act is in no way parallel to their state of mind; for example one of my friends seems to get really happy as time goes on and I've just thought before he's been having everything go his way, but he came over for a movie and just broke down in tears when i asked him about it.

I think KS teaches you more than anything that you never really know a person until you see their soul.

I think that KS showed me that as well, although a few years ago I was in your friend's shoes, but I figured it was just me and it was a rare thing, but I'm sure it's a more widespread thing that I originally thought.

Awwwh yeah boy
I found myself skipping through Lilly's sex scene because, as much as I enjoyed looking at the pictures, the sex itself wasn't important. I wanted the plot to advance.

That cornfield scene, man. It got me going.
It got me hungry.
Hungry for romance.

I... I have to admit it did the same to me, especially since it was my last route to complete and I wasn't expecting it, on top of that Lilly is my favorite.

If sex is not romantic, you're doing it wrong. And they definitely weren't doing it wrong.

Plus, in this game at least, important character development happens during those.

Why are people so squeamish about sex scenes??

You've got that right, the blind-fold erotic scene between Hisao and Lilly is a very emotional scene and it serves quite a bit to the story.

Untrue. Sex is not inherently romantic. Humans made it that way.

But he has clearly missed the point of those scenes in KS...

Exactly. Sex is for two purposes:
Procreation and Recreation.

I doubt teenagers are going to be tapping the midnight still, if you will, for procreation. That leaves the latter, and sex doesn't need to be romantic.

Making love != Sex

That said, Lilly's scenes were undoubtedly the most romantic in the game.

Dam right they were
I have to say when it comes to romantic H scenes:
Lilly's (blindfold sex aside) > Shizune's final > Emi final > Rin final > Hanako

If someone has a creative enough mind, they can come up with any euphemism for sex.
However I did not, sadly, come up with that one. The great writers at BioWare did

Just about any verb phrase could probably be made to sound like a euphemism, I think.

It's not that I'm squeamish, I just assumed that they weren't all that important to the story, so I mentally skipped them.
Being reminded of Lilly's Blindfold scene makes me realise how wrong I was. That was a pretty important part...
In my defence, I haven't read through KS in a while :P I'm overdue a reread
