I think Mutou should be portrayed by Nicholas Cage.

Everyone should be portrayed by Nicolas Cage.

Even the girls. An all-Nic film titled simply "The Cage". :P

Reading some of the replies to this about the accents... well I just... kind of... thought I'd share my REVOLUTIONARY IDEAS!
I think you'll be amazed by my awesome and totally new thoughts on the subject! ^^

Misha with... with a RUSSIAN ACCENT! ... yes I know, awesome and totally original, right?
Idk, it's the only accent I can imagine giving her.
Shizune: Japanese-ish, but not heavy.
Emi: normal/slightly American.
Rin: slight hint of French.
Lilly: British (no one saw that one coming either, right?)
Hanako: well... eh... idk actually. Normal, or perhaps slightly heavy Japanese?
Kenji: Weird voice of some sort-maybe only a bit off normal, but with a twist or something.

Now, what do you guys think would be the worst choices for accents?
The first one that pops into my mind is Australian Kenji

An actor who can only be described as hit and miss, and commonly follows the "rule of 4"... the rule states that any Nicolas Cage movie where Cage has hair longer than four inches will be terrible (Con Air, Bangkok Dangerous), while any in which he has hair shorter than four inches will be good. (urbandictionary)

......so, if the KS girls usually have hair longer than four inches and Nicholas Cage will play as them....NOO :(

Heh...perhaps it's a good thing I haven't worked on my Nicolas Cage voice, then :D .

I got through Act 1 & 2 of Rin's arc with my friend, but she's got a nasty headcold so we've had to put off continuing. That's given me some time to see what additional fan works might be to her liking. As mentioned, I've already read "Weekend at Hisao's" and "Sisterhood". I also would like to read her "Hanako's Story" once it's complete, but the slow progress of it means I might not be able to wait. Wouldn't mind some recommendations of similar quality.

Anyway, the above lists put me in mind to officially catalog whose voices come closest to my readings. I'm still trying to place them all, but I can add a couple to what I've already mentioned above. Specifically, I now recognize that I'm doing Emi as Tress MacNeille (or at least as close as I can get to her), although I could also see her as Alyson Stoner, as suggested by her "Whatchadoin?" line (see the TVTropes page). Iwanako is Tamlyn Tomita, and Nomiya is the late Paul Kligman. Also, I've thought about it, and I think I'll be doing Sae as Cybill Shepherd.

And, finally, in my mind, Lilly is so obviously Vivien Leigh.

Just to beat everybody to the double-plus-meme joke...

...would he be bringing the Shrimp on the Barbie to the Manly Picnic, then?

*ducks for cover*

Finished reading the Rin arc to my friend tonight. As expected, it didn't quite strike the personal chord with her as it did me. In fact, she specifically said it was her least favorite of the four thus far. She did enjoy the ending greatly, however, and called it "a nice reward" for getting through the rest of the arc, but she left no question that she has no intention of revisiting Rin, ever. Ah, well. I do wonder, though, if the necessity of having to take a two-day break between Acts 2 and 3 put a damper on things. It kind of shuffled all the most intense scenes into a shorter time frame, and might have thereby lessened their impact.

Reading through it myself for a second time, I was really able to pick up on a larger amount of the symbolism involved, and especially the change in Hisao's own monologues, with their more vivid descriptions of the scenes going on around him. The intensity of the arc goes well beyond just...well, the intensity of the "feels", which for me are still way more intense than any of the other arcs. It's just sheer brilliance.

If it interests anyone, Sae's voice wound up not being Cybill Shepherd, but Carolyn Jones instead. Not sure why...it just felt like a better counterpart to the voice I was using for Nomiya, I guess.

One more arc to go.
