I can't wait.

One day, I'll forget about Katawa Shoujo. Maybe my interests will change, or I get busy and neglect the forums. Hisao, Emi, Hanako, Lilly, Rin, Shizune and Misha will just fade away, until it may as well be that they never existed at all.

One day, I'll get a proper job after I graduate from university. I won't have time to browse the web as much as I used to.

One day, I'll have a family. A wife, possibly children, in-laws. I'll be enjoying life too much to care about a silly VN I played when I was younger.

One day, I'll need to use the computer, and I'll stumble across some old files inside a USB I'd neglected in a drawer, or even in a part of the harddrive I'd never needed to visit.

That day, I'll find a little icon of a love heart with crossed band-aids on it.

That day, I'll open it up. Maybe I'll remember.

That day, I'll stand out in the snow with Hisao, and watch him have his first heart attack. Maybe I'll remember.

That day, I'll be with him when he walks through Yamaku's pompous gates.

That day, I'll be running with Emi, reading with Hanako, drinking tea with Lilly, painting with Rin, playing Risk with Shizune and laughing along with Misha. I'll definately remember then.

That day, I will feel with the girls, and those feels will be amplified by memories of those exact feels happening to a younger me. I will laugh, I will smile, I will growl, and I will cry.

I can't wait.

Sounds like somebody has a bad case of the Feels... Personally, I'm happy as I am, with the thoughts and feelings I have right now towards the characters and the game. One day, I'll lose these feelings, and reopen the game and get that original feeling back. Until then, I'm content :).

Fanart in many variants is sufficient to satiate my desire to see more of this story.

So I don't wait for anything, but move on. To search for another rare pearls among infinite ocean of internet crap. Game, novel, movie, anime, music, anything. Thing that will be another masterpiece.

They are so rare.

Damn you, Sturgeon's law.

This reminds me greatly of a picture I saw on 4chan once. Let me see if I can find it. Warning; large image.

I'll never forget. Maybe one day, I can come back to this computer as an old man, just as in that image, and I can remember all the time I spent here. We might be from other places in the world, like Lilly, and we might go far from each other one day, like Shizune and Misha, but we'll always know that - for a time - we were all friends. You're gonna carry those feels.

Indeed.

I can't say I've seen such a thought provoking image like it, where the topic is 4chan.

Yep, one day all that will remain is a vague recollection and then I'll stumble upon this and other experiences of my youth.

That 4chan thing makes no sense. As if internet connections will ever be lost while civilization hasn't collapsed yet.

Anyway, I've gotten the urge to start replaying soon. Details are fuzzy. It's been almost a year, anyway.

Premise being very, very improbable (or even impossible) is not same as nonsensical premise.

Hey, you never know. It could happen.

Besides, it makes perfect sense, if you're an avid 4channer. The point isn't so much the internet connection, but the time spent at 4chan in the past for the old guy there.

It's been about eighteen years since the last time I was truly impressed with a Final Fantasy game. I still have that SNES cartridge, and the last time I tried, it still works.

It's been seventeen years since a friend introduced me to the indie/alternative comic Elfquest. It showed me that there was something other than G-rated superheroes and newspaper comics, and it became my main fandom/obsession for several years. I haven't read it in a while, but compilations of the early quality stories are not difficult to find, and the creators are distributing the entire run of the series online.

It's been maybe a decade since I read Kana Little Sister. That was the first VN that made me think that the format could be used for compelling stories, and not just for quickly forgettable porn games. Over the years, there have been a few more that have left me stunned, such as the freeware PC visual novels Black Pencil and A Midsummer Day's Resonance, and the inexpensive iOS visual novel Tears 9, 10. Perhaps I'll find time sometime soon to read Katawa Shoujo, and then maybe I'll add it to the list.
