I'm almost certain that because of their Student Council work, they're informed of the various afflictions of the student body; that way they know when someone's condition could be impeding their performance rather than simply slacking off in their duties.

I forget which path it's in, but there is a conversation Hisao has with them at some point about someone else's afflictions (I think it was either Hanako or Emi), but they're as tight-lipped as Nurse.
