Thanks for the quick response! I figured you had smoked once or twice or were at least a casual smoker, since in the scene Hisao talks about how unhealthy it is, yet your description of what those first four or five cigarettes are like is very true to life. I didn't mean to ask whether or not you had a similar experience of blowing smoke up at the ceiling with a girlfriend or anything.

Speaking of writing, are you writing anything at the moment that you'd be willing to talk about? It seems you answer a lot of questions about 4LS on the Aura Mart blog, but never say much about what you're up to. Just wondering if you have anything like cpl_crud's "Generic Writing Archive" where people can other read other stuff written by you. Or maybe you haven't written much since KS, in which case...er, ignore this question. Thanks!

That sounds like a pretty good idea, actually. Might start doing that myself
Like stupid, silly doodles with no point? You've come to the right place, friend :^)
I also occasionally write oneshots. Why not have a skimread?

Even though I've read 4LS will not produce any more content under said company name or as the same team, do any of the seperated writers have other projects in the same vein (done or ongoing)? Do any of the writers even wish to proceed making another product like Katawa Shoujo even for money?

EDIT: (Mainly asking since a ton of the creators seem to resent ever having done this project, even though it has touched many people's hearts across the globe.)

This isn't true.

Considering I've only seen people deplore the fact they've taken 5 years out of their lives to make "cripple porn" (which I find a derogative term for such a well-crafted game, far better than even a lot of paid titles) and have anxiety issues feeling they cannot explain that to their environment without being scorn and the FAQ clearly stating 4LS will not work again with the same team; I can't help but feel there has been some drama/hysteria.

I'd love to hear the contrary though, it would shed a lot more hope on perhaps future endeavors.

Well, a quick search of the forums reveals the following statements of asserted fact:

Not sure why you take such offense to my statement, I meant no harm with it. From what I read, the cpl guy wrote on his blog he felt quite conflicted about the entire issue of disclosing his involvement with Katawa Shoujo with new co-workers figuring they'd lash out at him. Aside from that, the FAQ seems rather direct in their answers hence my believe it was all very negative.

At least you've provided the answer to my question so can only thank you for that effort. Seems the devs are content but can see why a negative image has somewhat soured their mood to moderate these forums.

EDIT: All things considered, the question does seem to pop up at regular intervals. Might be a good idea adding a general answer to the FAQ to avoid further ones.

Wait, hold on, I'm not taking offence, really! The point of this 'Ask!' thread is to provide factual answers to questions. cpl_crud actually has updated us on his life here in this thread.

The main thing is to use the 'search' function on this thread to get your answers if you can. In fact, one of the most interesting experiences of my life was to read this entire thread from beginning to end when I first came here. :)

This is just a misunderstanding. What we have said is that it's unlikely every single one of us will come back to make another VN together, but that it's possible smaller groups of people within the team will continue to make projects together (we have already made 2 other VNs with smaller groups of people - pXt and The Answer - and used the 4ls name for both).

I just keep most of my writing to myself.

Here's my most recent reply to the oft-seen question about regretting or disliking KS:

Of course all of us have different perspectives on KS, but I've not ever seen anyone say they regret or resent working on it.

I've read almost every page of this thread and it seems as though the questions "did 4LS break up" and "do you regret Katawa Shoujo" get asked more than any others, even more than sequel or copyright questions. It's weird.

Anyway, the following is a very trivial question that there was probably never an answer to, but here goes: Where was the Hakamichi residence meant to be? Is it in the nearby unnamed city, or somewhere else?

Before she and Hisao go there, Shizune herself says in her route, "My home is in a particularly beautiful part of Saitama."

D'oh! I was sure that it was never mentioned in-game, but I should have checked anyway. Thanks!

It's also mentioned in Lilly's route.
