We usually give 1.4 as the answer for this.

You may have answered this already, but were there any side characters that were conceptualized but never used or scrapped?

Only Aoi, I think. She was supposed to have a role in Hanako's route but then she was just used in the very end of Shizune's route.
Best story:
Hanako > Rin > Lilly > Emi > Shizune

best girl:
Lilly > Shizune > Emi > Hanako > Rin

Eh, that's my opinion.

Several. Niji is perhaps the most significant one, but I can think of at least four more split between Lilly's and Hanako's paths plus more one-liners and no-liners and still more who were nothing but a name. Mostly if someone required visual attention yet appeared little they got the axe, because having to sprite extras was horribly inefficient.

Also I don't remember Aoi being supposed to have any different role anywhere ever. Please don't misinform if you're not sure of what you're saying, as mentioned in the first post of this thread.

Here's what I want to know: Why was Niji cut? Was it because Lilly having a seeing-eye dog at Yamaku was too odd or something like that?
I write take a look, would you kindly?
I also draw, kind of.

Useless bloat. He didn't do anything for the story nor was interesting enough to keep, plus caused a bunch of logistics problems.

Visualization: He would almost always have to be onscreen with Lilly, taking up precious screen real estate... except he's a dog, so he'd only be to up like the thigh of the characters, and as such almost completely covered by the text box.
Narration: He would almost always have to be onscene with Lilly, taking up mental space. Suriko occasionally had trouble even writing in the specifics of Lilly's blindness. A dog might've been too much.

Both of these problems are solvable for sure, and possibly even pretty interesting to work out. However, we decided that the dog wasn't what we wanted.

Pardon me KS devs! I've been having an ongoing debate of epic proportions with my KS group in regards to Rin. We have both used examples based on human nature and history to prove our points. It has been decided that the only way to solve this, is to ask you, the glorious Developers.

Does Rin have a mental disability of any sort?

The fine fellow I'm debating says that she does.

I say that she does NOT.

There is more detail, but I want to leave this as objective as posible in the interest of my fellow debater.

Thank you in advance for your input! We all really appreciate the effort you guys put into making this piece of work, and I think you'd be pleased to know, I'm going to be using KS to prove a point on my term paper. So theres always that. xD

have a good day!

I never thought she has, but I'm not a psychiatrist.

It does seem that she certainly acts like she most likely has Asperger's Syndrome.
But, meh. It's up to the Devs if it's ever confirmed if she does/doesn't.

And see, I never saw it that way. I never saw her as having any sort of mental issue at all. But alas, as fun as the topic is, its not for this thread, so! Perhaps we shall chat about that elsewhere. :)

There's no need to be flippant. A lot of people have noticed that Rin has some traits that are typical of people with AS. And it's common enough that it's not totally outlandish to think she might have it.

I tend to disagree though, I think she just has trouble communicating with others because of her overall temperament and general outlook. If she were on the autism spectrum it would be a lot more obvious. For example, she'd be a lot more irritable than she is.
