Re: Ask!
Ummm, which program(s) were used in the making of all CGs of Katawa Shoujo? I mean backgrounds and character sprites in general.
Also it would be best if I could find/see a tutorial too, since I am interested in that kind of stuff right now.

Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI. You can find tons of tutorials for digital illustration by just searching from google or deviantart.Erenussocrates wrote:Ummm, which program(s) were used in the making of all CGs of Katawa Shoujo? I mean backgrounds and character sprites in general.

<Aura> would you squeeze a warm PVC bottle between your thighs and call it "manaka-chan"
<Suriko> I would do it if it wouldn't be so hard to explain to my parents

Pretty sure every version released between 2006 and 2011 was used, so CS3, 4 and 5, whatever was natural.Steinherz wrote:If I may: what specific version of Photoshop?Aura wrote:Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI. What. No. At least as far as I'm aware, but I don't understand why anyone would do that. We're perfectly capable of sufficient shittalking on our actual accounts.Reyhan wrote:I'm always asking silly questions. But I wonder, do you guys have secret accounts on the forums you use & talk shit with the rest of the commoners?

No seriously, what.
Shattering your dreams since '94. I also fought COVID in '20 and '21, and all I got was this lousy forum sig.

No seriously, what.Or rather: what, seriously? No.
Fist of the North Star is a strange movie ._.

<KeiichiO>: "I'd rather look at clop than furry porn."

Re: Ask!
It was really just idle curiosity. I could've guessed since you guys aren't exactly the shy bunch. But y'know, everything you say carries quite a lot of weight, naturally, and is unanimously met with great regard -we all worship you, y'know. I fancied the thought; perhaps a certain prince Charles felt the need for an unbiased ear on which to voice his troubles, his concerns, wished to adress the masses without declaring war or condemning someone to die -we all fear you, y'know. It makes me chuckle to imagine someone arguing with a dev unknowilingly -since everybody's an expert- or a dev's... say... opinion or something getting torn apart like fair game -not that I fancy that thought.
Ofcourse I'm wrong. I'm the one who's too self-effacing & likely to actually do some thing like that since the idea somehow materialized between my shoulders.
But it leads me to my next quetion
Do you guys ever get tired of being worshipped?
I don't know if i would

Also, actual question (for the artist/whoever did the Backgrounds):
What was done to the location photos for the effect they have in the Visual Novel? Was it a filter in Photoshop or SAI? If so, what ones? (I actually like the background style in Katawa Shoujo, reminds me of an oil painting for some reason)

Re: Ask!
The technique is a pileup of different PS filters and adjustments. There's no recipe, it had to be done differently to different photos.Steinherz wrote: Also, actual question (for the artist/whoever did the Backgrounds):

Re: Ask!
Ummm, okay this might sound stupid or irritating, but when I search like "digital illustrations tutorial" all kinds of different stuff shows up and I am not interested in any of them. I mean, I am looking for the best/most reliable anime/manga drawings and paintings tutorial, and also a tutorial about how to do backgrounds like in Katawa Shoujo
Well, what should I type to find results for anime one? XD Is there anybody willing to hold my hand here? lol. I really would love a companion holding my hand and helping me out online, step by step
You see, I downloaded Ren'Py and fiddled with it a bit, and got hysterical upon seeing how most of the regular stuff was so easy to do. So I am inspired to make somethings right now, I really am. I even wrote down some text and stuff, I really want to create somethings by myself. That's the story, lol.
Edit: Oh, omg... Wait, screw this, I figured out that most of the more professional illustrators use graphic tablets anyways, duh... It's nearly impossible to create outstanding stuff with my pesky mouse, at least for me. Well, I don't know how to use graphic tablets or if my computer will recognize it when I plug it in though... Well, any recommendations for a humble graphic tablet for a beginner? Which is not overly expensive?

Wacom Bamboo. It's what I have, and a couple of the staff artists used to use it too.Erenussocrates wrote:Ummm, okay this might sound stupid or irritating, but when I search like "digital illustrations tutorial" all kinds of different stuff shows up and I am not interested in any of them.
