Hell no. Rin delivered herself to his doorstep and bed.

Yeah, she overreacted too. But she's got that whole 'emotional problems' excuse.

Anyway, gonna hush since we're way the hell off topic here.

So, I confess I don't know about Shizune yet, but isn't Rin' arcs the only one where Hizao doesn't actually sleep with the girl?
the popcorn was burnt anyway :(

He slept with Rin in the atelier after the masturbation scene....
and they have the seckshual intercourse in the good ending

I believe that Rin's path was my fourth one. It also became my favourite.

Although I seem to remember Aura saying that he didn't think of Rin as suffering from anything along the lines of autism, I found that she did share a couple of traits with my autistic self. Making sense of other people's intentions is quite an ordeal for her and she's very much trapped inside her own mind. The loneliness she feels for not being able to get people to see the world her way, I kind of relate to that in a big way. Then again, getting people to see things your way or vice versa isn't much easier for "socially functional" people, either.

As for the other characters, I especially liked the way Nomiya turned out. In some respects he reminds me of one of my professors: so passionate about his subject matter that he's completely oblivous to the apathy among his students. Even when they had that debate in the art club it reminded me of his real-life counterpart: a man seemingly eager to exchange opinions with his flock, but clearly finding his own view the only one worth subscribing to. In essence his intentions are pure, but he's in dire need of someone slapping the blinkers off him. It made him the most interesting antagonist in the game.

I read somewhere earlier in this thread how someone pointed out that Nomiya and Mutou are perfect foils to each other: they both are eager for their star pupil to do well, but whereas Mutou realizes that there's a living person attached to that brain he admires, Nomiya only sees Rin as a shell housing potential. That was a nice bit of juxtaposition that I'd very nearly missed.

To be fair, Nomiya is also aware to some extent that there's a living person in the pupil... It's just that like many people he didn't really understand Rin. Throughout Rin's route both Hisao and Nomiya show concern and interest for Rin's wellbeing as well as her future. Initially their modus operandi, dynamic with Rin, and maybe even part of their personalities are pretty similar. But as the story develops and the central drama of Rin takes on new directions and her character is seen on newer lights by Hisao (as well as all other developments he goes throught in the story) this similarity goes changing (at least with certain choices) until the point they are not only not the same, but foils.

In the good ending you have the scene where Nomiya is talking to (yelling at) Rin for the last time, and walks away really pissed off and disilusioned. Compare that scene with the bad/neutral (can never remember right) ending where Hisao ends up yelling at Rin in her atelier, she asks him to leave, and he ends up looking at his watch regretting the time he'll never get back. Both of them felt shocked with Rin's latest action and, after all the effort they put into her or her carreer, couldn't really interpret that as anything other than a betrayal (and from a more normal it probably would have been). Nomiya is pretty much set on this attitude/personality, and i think you get many hints of this throughout acts 2 and 3. Hisao has the choice to take a different approach.

It might also be worth noting that, at least to me, there was this small sub-plot between Nomiya and Hisao. Mostly centered around Rin and their attitude towards her of course but i think also related to their personalities in general and Hisao's perceptions of Nomiya.

... Well, that sure went on a tangent. Sorry about that.

Well, I don't really agree with that. Nomiya's interaction with Rin is just one-way traffic, i.e. cajoling her into exhibiting her art. He's got her future all figured out without ever even considering what it is that Rin actually wants. He never once tried to see things from her perspective because he assumes she views art the same way he does.

It's true that both Nomiya and Hisao end up being frustrated with Rin, but the source of frustration isn't in both cases the effort they've wastefully put in her career. For Nomiya it is, obviously. He can't understand why she'd throw away such a golden opportunity to break through in that exclusive world of artists. Hisao, on the other hand, feels like he's been taken advantage of as a friend. He wants her to appreciate him as something else than "just a muse", i.e. a vehicle for her professional success. He wants to be thought of as a meaningful presence in her emotional life.

Oh, no, by all means, do share it! I'm not quite sure what sub-plot you're talking about.

This is a very good point. It is very easy to just disregard what other's opinions are, even if you don't realise it, and this is clearly shown in Nomiya's character - driven, but woefully misguided. It also seems like he's living his life through Rin, which may explain why he got so frustrated because to him, it would seem like he failed in his ambitions twice, and for someone of his obvious drive, this would be a massive dropkick.
