True.
I have faith in the producers that they have enough sensitivity (which they already showed in the demo) to make those intimate scenes emotional, aesthetic and beautiful, which means, more tasteful than 99% of all existing hentai crap.
Close-ups of genitals, girls crying when fucked, awkward sexual positions or camera angles, litres of body fluids, those are the things that would ruin the game completely.
This game does not need "sex scenes" or "H-scenes", it needs "love scenes", if you catch my drift.
...so that's why I'm trying to figure out if there is something I need to figure out and then figure that out before it's too late and all hope is lost.

I guess this is the best way it could be put when discussing sex scenes, or more so "love scenes", in KS.

Thanks for your reply Cpl_Crud, I guess I'm mostly just happy that the team has worked so diligently and addressed this matter already to it's fullest. As the nooby here I think I'll "Open Mouth Insert Foot" on the matter and just be happy for whatever route is planned  .

As always, thanks for your time.

YES, do it, count me in.

I just feel that having H-scenes would be pointless,
I don't know, character attachment or something.

Edit: or whatever Khaos just said

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but an all ages version would also be useful for the UK.

If the new law that the bigwigs have comes up with passes, next to all Visual Novels containing sex will be banned. This, coupled with the fact that this charming police state would like to monitor everyone's history, would mean that it would be impossible to download a H-version of Katawa Shoujo, even if it did have the option of turning off the H-scenes, in fear of being added to the sexual offenders register for having 'child pornography' on your computer.

Knowing our godforsaken government, this law will no doubt be passed. So, unless they release it before the law is decided, there'll be no Katawa Shoujo for me, or anyone from Britain.

I would say make the hentai version first
if want to make a non-H version
take out the sex scene part
its what the chinese translation over at china did for To Heart 2

I think a non-ero version of KS would be a wonderful idea. I know quite a few people who at first expressed interest in this game and then they saw that it would have ero-scenes and became disenchanted. Having a non-ero version would go a long way to releasing this to a wider audience.

Honestly, if it were up to me, I'd probably do things a little differently. The original intent of the game is what it is, and the script should be written with that in mind. However, there are going to be a lot of people who cannot or should not be dealing with the hentai content. Also, this game -perhaps more than most- needs to be careful about not merely falling into exploitation, and keeping the non-H audience in mind could serve as a safeguard against that.

Basically, what I'd suggest is write the script with the H-scenes in mind. When it's ready in that form, take the H-scenes out, and rework until the basic ideas still shine through in a satisfactory way. Then re-add the H-scenes, rework until it makes sense again, take them out and rework again, and repeat until both versions really get stuff through. The point I'm suggesting, in other words, is not to create two different storylines: it's to create one where the story can get through even without the hentai.

It's possible that some truly critical dialogue or action might only be able to happen mid-coitus. That happens in some stories, and for some of the cases in this game I would frankly be more surprised if it didn't happen (for example, a shot of Hisao's left arm entwined with Hanako's right could be a very powerful image). That creates interesting directorial challenges for the case where H-skip is on, but I do not believe they're necessarily insurmountable.

Arrrgh, people... there is going to be one version of the game, it will be H, it will have an option to skip those scenes if you really are such prudes about it.
Also all this talk about 'appealing to a wider audience' its not gonna happen, the general public will have this opinion about KS, with or without H: "Katawa Shoujo, isnt that the weird Japanese/4chan (if they know slightly more about it and its origins, they will go with 4chan) thing where you play as some pervert and try to hit on damaged goods? Thats really sick, we should try to get that thing banned, because it will infect the minds of our youth and what not" KS is only going to ever appeal to a select group of people, and I am fine with that.
Topic is over, move on.

Make a nice big button in the options list "NUDITY ON/OFF" and everyone's happy, except for the programmer cuz of the extra work. :)
"Anal." - Emi
"I merely have a healthy adolescent sex drive." - Lilly
"The problem is in your pants." - Rin
"I'll tutor you." - Misha
"...?" - Shizune

I approve.

If I understand right, the H-off/H-on button is already a foregone conclusion: it's in the FAQ on the site and everything. The question is if there will be a version that is locked into H-off mode. Presumably one could be made were it not for the NoDerivs clause in the license: just remove the button and artwork and change the default. But given this game's origins, the NoDerivs clause really does need to be there, so making a separate version just isn't an option for anyone outside the game's staff.

Given that, I think the game would be a lot better if the game were written in such a way as to retain the plot's meaning no matter what the H-switch is set to, rather than just treat it as a prude-switch. Aside from showing some consideration to both sides of the market (not everyone plays VNs for the hentai), it would also help defray the accusations of exploitation that will inevitably come: having a little ammunition to defend the game with would be useful.

Havent been keeping up with the topic, but let it be stated that when blending storyline and H, its wise to bear in mind the difference between fucking and making love :D

I'd like to see sources on that. I do hate the way the country is going, but I don't think there are any laws (yet) that would make a VN such as this illegal. Either way. I live in the UK, and will be playing this game, full stop.

True.
There are other countries as well, where such stupid laws have been passed.
In Germany the depiction of pornography is now forbidden, if the persons involved LOOK like they could be under 18, this goes for real photos as well as for drawn pictures. (Fuck you Ursula, go back to your seven children!)
As far as I know, the porn industry is taking that law to court, but I haven't heard anything new yet.
We're not on the same level of surveillance as poor Great Britain, but still, downloading this game with explicit H-scenes would be illegal here, too.

PS: However if the scenes would refrain from explicitely showing genitals, and I hope they will because it would totally ruin the feel of the game, it could be okay...
...so that's why I'm trying to figure out if there is something I need to figure out and then figure that out before it's too late and all hope is lost.
