I love the internet, that wonderful place where everything that's a girl is a boy and a boy is a girl. Also Ponies.

I never considered a pink afro+chest hair before, very much, now it will be with me for a while. No matter how I imagine the Shounen, from now on Manly Misha is un-toppable!

I prefer the idea of Hanako being more standoffish and outwardly defensive as a boy. I don't like to idea of gender-bending just to imagine them with the exact same personality.
I wonder how the social conventions of the gender might weigh on the personalities. I wonder if Male Lilly would have so easily asked/accepted guidance in the mini mart. Male Emi probably wouldn't use cute faces to get his way, he'd probably just drag Female Hisao to lunch and jogging. I doubt it would have been ok for Male Shizune and Misha to barge into a ladies dorm room and it would have been strange for them to ask Female Hisao to win them a stuffed cat. Male Rin...I can see staying the same...except for one big thing, how does Male Emi help this Rin the restroom? Hmm...

Good, definitely good.

Turning Lilly into Yuri is a clever and endearing idea.

DecoBleu wrote:Also, would anyone be interested in a complete Katawa Shonen rewrite in the style of The Genderbending of Haruhi Suzumiya? This is of course assuming that the devs have no objections, and it probably would be more of a choose-your-own adventure than a visual novel, but I think it would be an interesting project.
I would rather see a Katawa Shonen with original characters or at least the boys already in the game like these - http://shimmie.katawa-shoujo.com/post/v ... arch=kenji

Although Sexy Male Misha's art make such a re-write seem more alluring.

Hm. I was thinking about how pretty much everybody says M!Rin will be basically the same thing.

Most of them can be roughly fitted to an archetype, and when people try to genderbend, they look for what they think to be the closest archetype for the other gender. But Rin? Rin has no real archetype, at least not a gender-related one. I'd say this is why few people want to change Rin by very much. For that matter, since Shizune isn't a defined character type, being more defined by character traits, her genderbend wouldn't change all that much either. It would be the same traits, just expressed in a slightly different manner (like switching up the Throwing Balls scene).

Also, going off the OP's description of Shizune and Emi, methinks there may be interesting results from Emi's overblown masculinity and Shizune's competitiveness. I'm not quite sure a Prince Charming role for M!Lily is the best option, but admittedly (falling victim to the exact phenomenon I described), there's not much else I can think of, beyond making something up on the fly.

I don't think Male Lilly would be prince charming. Her character respects privacy and doesn't impose. Translated to a male character, I don't see a prince in that.

I can see male Lilly as a poet for some reason, sort of like Milton. A very quiet and reserved, reflective person who radiates elegance- similar to now, but less caring and more introspective.

They're so adorable when they're innocent. Personally, I expected Mansha to have a glorious pelt of manly virility, but I suppose he shaved before serving the food.

Oh lordy, all the drawings are wonderful. V2 Manako is muscling in on Eman's pseudo-shota territory, though.

As far as the personality changes go, the relationship between Yuri and V1 Manako would probably be viewed by outsiders as less the nice girl taking care of the Moeblob and more as the class act keeping the psycho on a leash. The actual dynamics between them would be pretty much the same, though. Speaking of dynamics with Lilly, the main thing I got from the only scene with Akira in it is that the siblings are very different from each other.* So now I'm trying to come up with a concept for "unrefined guy who could be mistaken for a girl at first glance" and failing miserably.

*And also that Lilly has a demon-eyed Yakuza sister who is probably going to whack you and/or eat your soul in the Bad Ends, but that observation broke the flow and has been banished from the main paragraph.

You know what I noticed? There is a severe lack of beards and general facial hair.
I know that we stand pro-pink chest curls, so now we need some manly Versions of Rin, Shizune and Emi with heroic facial hair.

So I propose: Beardslaps for Everyone, people!

Male Shizune has the most badass beard ever; it also shoots lazors and eats human flesh.

So...Shizune is just like Chuck Norris?

Male Rin should have a well trimmed beard so that it can then be stained with paint. And I thought I saw a pic of Male Emi with a goatee, maybe?

M!Rin would have a beard, since shaving would be too much of a pain. Eman would probably be too shota to grow facial hair.

Do Japanese high schools allow students to grow beards? They certainly don't in my country.
