Similarly to the previous poster, I first ran across the name "Katawa Shoujo" via TVTropes. Being legally blind myself, I was intrigued by the concept, but was a bit put off by the genre at first (yeah, yeah, will await the hazing over that). I forgot about it for a while, but a few weeks ago I ran across The Asenheim Project while looking for free games (not exactly sure how legit TAP is, so will not link to it), and gave a couple games over there a shot. In particular, Season of the Sakura hooked me on the genre, so I continued digging.

Still looking for free games, I naturally ran across rpgmaker.net, where I landed in the midst of Heartache 101, for which I began creating a custom character (now nearly complete). When I mentioned my legal blindness on the discussion boards, I got labeled a "two-bit Kenji knockoff" by a particular cranky poster. I looked the name Kenji up on Wikipedia, and discovered the connection to this game. Finally put 2+2 together, and downloaded KS a few days ago. It's now officially the best game I've ever played of any genre, and one to which I know I will return repeatedly.
Rin is orthogonal to everything.
Stuff I've written: Developments, a continuation of Lilly's (bad? neutral?) ending - COMPLETE!

You and me can discuss a lot of things together, my friend...

I have written a few articles for the SCP Foundation site.
While I was in their IRC I came across several people discussing the game for some reason.
One gave a link, and out of interest I followed it, downloaded the game and am now here for all to see.

TVTropes is a horrible yet wondrous land simultaneously of nightmares and rainbows.

It all started long ago from the random ED page about VN with cripples. I was thinking that it gonna be a revolting must-see. Then, I was stumbling upon KS pics on russian imageboards from time to time. Then I found out that Act 1 was completed, and got back to ED article to re-read it (without touching Act 1). And then, Jan 4 2012 it happened. I knew that KS was released right away, but I actually waited for 8th jan to start it (I never actually wanted too, but I've seen one or two "my feels after playing Katawa Shoujo" pics, and I wanted to try if it's true. After a week of isolation and sleep deprivation I finished KS. Then I started to participate in KS General threads (which weren't plentiful, some of them are still alive by now), and I came across "Coach to 5k with Emi" pic. I waited for more than a year before I finished KS one more time and decided to give runs a try (this, and my heart ringing alarm bells, that is). Then I googled "running with Emi" and finally ended up here. I've been running for two months before I registered here to chat with you guys a bit.

Wow. That was long and boring.

I googled Katawa Shoujo and ended up here.
But you didn't write the line 'Anything I say in red is the truth' which means you were lying about that and you didn't google Katawa Shoujo, or it could all be a ploy to trick us!
We need to go deeper.
I just love these quotes. Got a problem with that?!

Like several others I found Katawa Shoujo itself via TVTropes. That was about two weeks ago. I don't remember which trope page started it, but it was completely by accident. It was also the first VN that I ever finished or even attempted remotely seriously.

I enjoy reading reviews and discussions of everything I read or watch (or play, although I don't really play much these days). So I read lots of reviews all over the web and obviously this place came up immediately. I am not sure I have all that many interesting things to contribute, but I joined because I thought an opportunity to discuss it could be nice. I don't know anyone personally who played it. i brought it up with a few online friends who seemed like they might enjoy that kind of thing, but nobody showed any real interest.

Thanks. Generally they are good people (that's how I prefer my friends), but they really let me down there.

Hello and welcome, "new blood" (I heard that that's how people call us, new guys, around here  )
Everyone hides who they are at least some of their time. Sometimes you bury that part of yourself so deeply that you have to be reminded it's there at all. And sometimes you just want to forget who you are all together.
