I was looking on TVTropes for Disability Superpower, then I found myself in Disabled Hottie and I was bored so I was looking at the examples. Katawa Shoujo was on there and I thought it sounded interesting, so I clicked it. I decided to play the game so here I am.

I was actually on a quest to create my own visual novel; when I found the Ren'py software and website. I decided to see what other people had been able to create with the program... and -BOOM-..... ran into Katawa Shoujo. (Which happens to be the highest-quality thing on Ren'py by a mile.)

There was a time, in /v/, when Katawa Shoujo was the Flavor of the Month, and as such there were many threads about it. After contemplating some screenshots and fan art (most notably, the "I give this thread a thumbs up!" Rin pic), I was interested, and so I downloaded Act 1.

Some time later, here we are.

Found this on Fakku. Went to the website. Downloaded it.
Felt happy cause i finished an epic vn and then the rest was just a simply click on the forum on the website. the rest was history. LURK!LURK!LURK

I'm a videogamer and I wanted to try something different from my usual stuff. I found Ren'py and after a pair of other games also Katawa Shoujo. I played it and now I'm here.

Anime lover initially and going from the anime to their VN predecessors. I actually found the renp'y data base for this one and downloaded it right away; and that led to be bugging everyone on the forums here. I have to say KS was the most compelling along with True Remembrance. They got me to create my one short VN; well 11,000 words isn't too short.

I got here through a rant on the Megatokyo site, around when Act 1 v1 was released. Course, I didn't get to the forums until a year later, when I was looking through some old files, and I located the demo again... Originally I only came looking for that walkthrough thingy (yes, I'm a lazy bastard )... And then I saw the fanfic section, on which I spent days to read -all- of it

So yeah, from webcomics, to this place.

Friend from school told me about this. I really wasn't interested at all and was a bit turned off (i mean, 4chan, cripples, and porn?). Anyway, the guy kept on talking about it, and it finally caught my interest. I was curious about it, but I wasn't sure if I'd like a visual novel (never played one) and especially one about cripple porn. So I went on fakku and downloaded the cutest-looking one I saw (Wanko to Kurasou... yeah...). I ended up liking the visual novel type of thing so I tried out Katawa Shoujo. I thought, yeah, this is cool, the characters are interesting (though I absolutely hated Shizune and to a lesser extent Misha at first), and I started going to find out more about when the full version would be released and stuff and decided to check around the forum.

I found myself here due to a DeviantArtist named "Gamera1985". He is a French (I think) anime-style artist specializing in what can only be described as "abnormal" (centaurs, mutants, amputees, etc). He had a journal describing his initial reaction ("The graphic quality is top notch, the musics are nice and the characters are quite well developped. The story is nice so far, and I wonder how big the final version will be. My only concerns are about (the infamous) Kenji, the side-male character, who is more scary than really humourous (I really felt bad each time I talked to him), and the few number of story paths: so few choices so far...but it's only a demo, so I expect the final version to have much more paths.) and ended by saying that Rin is his favorite due to her spaciness and cute expressions.

I don't know what, in fact, on a hentai site.
Then, I found a katawa shoujo picture.
The source was written, so I came, I played, and since this day I'm still there.

Good question...it's kind of hard to remember.
I think I did it the old-fashioned way...namely, typing 'visual novel' into Google and browsing until I find something decent.
Thank Goodness I was desperate enough for something to play that I ignored the whole 'cripple pr0n' thing and downloaded it anyway. Just think what I would have missed otherwise. O.o

Someone I despise with all the hate in the universe linked me to the torrent for V1. To this day its still the only good thing he's ever done and given the chance, I would begrudgingly thank him for it.

It also opened my eyes to VN's in general, as well as the whole related genres in manga and anime (aside from the cripple part. KS is still the only one I've seen, though I can't really imagine myself liking any others unless they had a Rin clone in it. Even then it wouldn't be the same.

I came here through an adult games site (playforceone) and decided to give the game a try - even when all people over there ranted about the game lacking any h scenes.
I did not regret it and look forward to the final release.

Found the game on a random whim.. I think maybe from a related video on Youtube. Getting stuck on 98% for awhile, I searched for a walkthrough and found this place.. ...yup.
