It could be made into an awesome aftermath/epiloge:
Hanako got through with her enxieties, and better! Got a bitchi'n tattoo of some flame demon/dragon/etc. covering half of her body, and became a professional daredevil, dealing only with stunts involving flames and explosions.
Hisao of course would be home, nursing kids.

I do have a minor question, would the burns have caused sufficient nerve damage to prevent her from feeling the tattoo process?

No way to tell from just the picture, but I guess not.
That tattoo looks as if it is larger than the original scar has been.

I thought scars were weakened cells, so wouldnt that make it less likely for some areas to be tatooed due to a risk of more serious cell damage

Is that why the librarian is so timid? Akira's trying to get protection payments from the family restaurant, and she's gotta work an extra job at the school to cover the bribes?

Hmmm... Perhaps I should keep these ideas to myself so I could write them later on.
