Translation not yet finished, man. Around 80% done now, if I remember right. Yes, that's about it. http://vntls.tindabox.net/project/irotoridori-no-sekai
Should be done by the end of the year, at least.
I too am waiting for that. The artwork in it is gorgeous. I've been in love with FAVORITE's style since Hoshimemo, anyway. Would've read it straight away, but reading untranslated ones while referring new words and kanji constantly is a big pain sometimes due to my limited knowledge in Japanese, so just gonna wait. (Easier to wait for this than something like Majikoi which would probably take a very long time.)

So, Period just got released and Never 7 will be released soon.

Anyone interested? I'll probably play both next week when I'm less busy.

From the description of Never7: "You play as Makoto, a student who never attends the lectures at the school. As a punishment, you have to attend an extra seminar on an island..."

JESUS. If real schools pulled shit like this, nobody would ever skip class. "You want to skip? Fine, we'll ship your ass off to an island devoted to lecturing you." ...And as if that wasn't bad enough, Laura Palmer washes up wrapped in plasti-...Wait, no. Just some dead girl with a bell. Aw.

Judge for yourself. I hear the app version was edited/censored somewhat but I couldn't say for sure.

Doesn't look like it. Seems like most of the translation errors are still intact - I was hoping for a bit more editing to be present in the iPhone version. Oh well.

That'll be the day. Rance VI is likely to be translated by the end of fall, so you can look forward to that for now.

I'm probably jumping the gun a bit here, but has anyone here been playing Period? How does it compare to Quartett!? I'm thinking of playing it but I remember I detested most of the romantic parts of Quartett!, also the character designs are a little creepy.

I havent read the whole Thread altho i finally found a VN that is not totally out of the world. So if anyone is like me and cant get their head around games like Clannad , Fate/stay night and those like and are looking for a somewhat normal setting with still a bit of humor and fun in it i can easily recommend the english version of Kirakira its a bit stereotypical altho this is what makes it quite appealing in my book while beeing not as "spacey" or " trying to do different stuff ". Writing is quite solid altho it cant cope with KS ( from beeing roughly three hours in ). The setting is as said fresh altho not totally out of this world, and its not too expensive too.

The thing I really despised about Kira Kira is that it's separated into two halves, the first being with the band and the second focusing on the romance. Those two plots should really have been more integrated.

Also the endings were weak. Weak.

I havent seen any ending yet i was just happy to get something not as much out of the place, so if you have anything similar and not any totally whacky storyline than im all for it might be me beeing quite leaned towards higscool romances without too much of a major twist tho. Would love to get more in the same vein and if it has better writing than kirakira im up for it. I still have roughly 200 USD spending for games left atm so price is not much of a matter as long as it is available in english.

Edit: OK after getting the Sarina ending i must say i fully agree the ending of her "arc" is rather bad and looked like here you get an H Scene cause this is an eroge. The Whole Arc was good till the scenery at the train station.

School days was an interesting one. It's fully animated and voiced and some of the endings are quite unique.

Kira Kira apparently has fantastic writing in Japanese (I have seen it likened to Forest, Cross Channel and Symphonic Rain) but the Mangagamer translation didn't do it any justice.

It's tough to think of any since most VNs are either totally serious or completely inane and wacky. I would recommend ef - a fairy tale of the two or ef - the first tale if you go for the Mangagamer one, although that is only half of the VN. Da Capo seems to be pretty popular as well, or at least the second one is.

That still stands as the stupidest ending I have ever seen in a VN. Overdrive really fucked up with that one. They turned a serious moment into an excuse for porn, it was really difficult to take it seriously.
Natrolite wrote:School days was an interesting one. It's fully animated and voiced and some of the endings are quite unique.
School Days was 'wasted potential, the VN' due to the great ideas and technical aspects being ruined by a sub-par story. It's only really worth playing for the animation, timed choices and bad ends.
