If you think about each writer's dedicated Hisao character, Hisao should be as similar as the player as possible, his thought process, remarks, and actions should mimic a player's behavior to achieve maximum immersion. I'd imagine Rin's path to be the hardest, because I have still have no idea what Rin's Hisao is actually like.

In my opinion Rin is the type to describe things in a creative, imaginative and unrealistically way. However, for Hisao he tells it as it really is but in creative way. In Rin's end she describes clouds as thoughts *can't exactly remember*. While Hisao tells her what it really is, while being creative by saying we all become a part of the clouds. Since we are made out of water, water is evaporated and that joins together forming clouds. Which is true.

So Rin is creative beyond reality, while Hisao sticks to reality yet states things in a creative/imaginative way. This way both chars are seen to be artistic, yet completely different.

Rin = Balloon
Hisao = Kid holding Balloon
MultipleChoice wrote: I think one of the biggest reasons that Emi isn't popular in the demo is because of how she ambushes you. You're minding your own business chasing some other girl and BAM! Emi hits you like a heart attack. And since you don't really build any rapport with her before it happens, the player ends up feeling forced into a relationship they didn't want regardless of whether or not they may grow to like Emi. Also, she's the least developed of the 5 girls in every sense of the word, at least by the end of Act 1.
Emi = Train
Hisao = Passenger/Conductor-in-training

I like this aspect of KS, an accident of there being five writer thought it may be, because it gives Hisao more presence in his own story. So many VN protagonists are so bland as to be nearly invisible. As to plausibility, Hisao is a teenager and in even a greater state of flux due to the chaos his illness has brought him. He lost all his old, crappy friends and is in a new school and is forced to consider his way of life and future. This is a fine time for his personality to shift.

Probably not relevant but its kinda weird how close some of the characters personalities are:

Hanako = Mikuru
Lilly = Koizumi
Rin = Nagato
Emi = Tsuruya

Hanako and Rin are a bit of a stretch but the similarities are there.

no!
Misha should play Tsuruya,
Emi can be Kyon's sister,
and then Nurse pops out of nowhere posing as Koizumi.

The other characters don't match too well though.

Hisao changed a bit towards Rin already - not in his way of thinking, but in perspective. Remember the end? You sit there as outsider, look at the crowd of "human cattle". That's Rin's perspective as well. If you choose Lilly, Shizu or even Emi, you on the other hand become one of the "cattles".
(It's the same way, as the demo-endings symbolize the persons personality and/or positions: Shizune at the top (roof), Lilly at the heart of all (garden), Rin as outsider (at the wall and later at night), Hanako in isolation (tearoom), Emi in between everything (okay, actually Hisao sneaks away..), Kenji ... well, you die - isn't that just saying everything?)

Btw. another change, not just in character, which i instantly noticed was about the money - to emphasize Shizune's high&mighty-position, Hisao is always broke in her parth (so far), while he was treating everybody else (even Emi and Rin both) at his cost...

I think the only part Shizune's like Haruhi is the leader type of person. They're not equally random/crazy in decision making. And even if Shizune had the ability to talk, I wonder if she'd be as noisy.

Speaking of noisy, and answering OP, how about Misha?
prusuing Misha(or Shizune) would entail a real commitment to the Student Council. And have you met people that when they laugh they make other people laugh? Hisao might turn out to be some kind of joker, being fond of hearing Misha. He'll get in touch with the child within him, carefree and enjoying life much more.
appeals to players who like childish girls. And also, the way Misha's not ashamed of being noisy in class seems like she has an adventurous spirit in her.

Not likely, as that will be Shizune's path, so he'll have to be constantly on his guard so as not to fall prey to one of her schemes.

True enough, they are different characters, but I was referring to Shizune's dynamic with Hisao in relation to what Haruhi does with Kyon. Haruhi kind of drags Kyon along through his objections, and Kyon just goes with it, and he doesn't actually mind. This could happen with Shizune and Hisao.

Oh yeah. I see what you mean. :idea: Misha would mostly do the physical dragging though? :lol:

While there is a writer for each path, I imagine that there's enough cooperation and peer review to keep the cast in character throughout the storylines. The editors also contribute, I'm sure.

Also, when Katawa-Shojo is released in full, if the community spots some stuff that's not working, it'll get changed, I think.
