Okay, I know the relevance this has to Katawa Shoujo is minimal at best, but it's just way too cute not to share. Apparently there was recently a case where a cat who lost its hind paws in an accident got little metal kitty foot prosthetics, and, well, see for yourself:

D'awwww. Here's the original article. Actually, the procedure was kind of interesting because of the need to implant them directly into the leg bone itself, whereas with human leg prosthetics it's usually okay for them to be removable.

Incidentally, if anybody becomes inspired to make some Emi-with-cat-ears fanart because of this story, I'm totally okay with that. >.>

Everything gets better when you add prosthetics and cat ears.

What if you add cat ears on a cat?

I once saw footage of something like that, but with a cockatoo...

She'll definitely have hard time if her back is itchy and want to scratch.

Couldn't they have made them a little more bulky or something? They look laughably pathetic. Like tiny boots.

Weight considerations.

Very important thing to consider with prosthetics.

Ohmilawd! Somebody do it!

Also, poor kitty. Kind of neat to see that, though, because of Emi.

Now with video! (And a more detailed discussion of how they did it.) If anybody needs me, I'll be mopping myself up off the floor.

Fullmetal Cat, anyone?

Interesting. I wonder how soon we'll see tech more like this on humans... What with the bone and skin growing onto the metal.

Doesn't seem very likely, to be honest. Prosthetics for humans work fine when detachable, and I can see those being more comfortable than a permanent extension that doesn't give off any sensory information >_>

I can think of at least one very obvious exception to that statement. ;) Plus, it could come equipped with ~vibrations~.

It's probably very situational. Someone missing an arm just barely under the elbow might have trouble anchoring a prosthetic in a way that doesn't interfere with their elbow movement, for example.

If I'd lose my arm to that extent, I'd probably be like "screw it, I'll live with just the one hand" instead of having an awkward artificial one that I can barely use -_-"

Some do some don't. Depends on the available prosthetics.
