I still wanna see Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation review KS. but now that I think about it, a thread about that mysteriously disappeared. hmm.

Why? He hates VNs. He'd do a Heavy Rain style review and be like "I'm not a book reviewer, so I don't really know what to to say about it."

Which makes writing the review it self pretty pointless

Wow, I never thought about it that way. I guess you're right. Maybe a little bit of controversy might not be too bad if it manages to draw more attention to KS.

Yahtzee hasn't been funny for several months. I hope he doesn't touch this game.

Also, I agree this game should get some publicity when it releases. I checked and I found this isn't even on GameFAQs - so I submitted the game to it yesterday.

Holy hell it was about time he posted it. Though I don't know why he doesn't want to post it here? >.>

Anyway, it's nice to see some light shed onto this game.

I tryed that a while ago. No dice. They don't like freeware games unless it reaches Cave Story levels of popularity.

The art style itself is very appealing to the eye, with finely-detailed CGI backgrounds depicting slightly abstracted views of the school and its grounds, offset by the 2-D character portraits, which are of the same quality as much of the high-brow manga available on the market.
Don't know about the character quality comparison since i didn't read any worthwile mangas, but i'm fairly certain that the bgs are real photos touched up with filters, and i thought, that that wasn't considered CGI. Or at least, not how he thinks.

I'd say the character quality is definitely up there. A lot better than something like True Remembrance anyway, which, while a decent story, was kind of underwhelming visually.

The backgrounds are all photoshopped photos. CGI does seem to imply that they're 3D models, which they're not.

That means that no matter how good the writing is or how colorful that characters are eventually there will be porn. It's possible that the writer didn't know this fact and just by reading the demo you wouldn't know this either.

This is the biggest argument as to way there should not be porn in the final product. KS already has 2 strikes against it for being from 4 chan. Now add porn and no matter how tasteful the writing is and no matter well developed the characters are people will not think too highly of this project.
for fuck's sake, man.

first: why are you trying to speak for everybody? "people will not think too highly of this project" if there's sex? bullshit. you're not all people, and not everybody thinks like you. some people will think more highly of KS because there's sex in it (shocking, I know), and they've probably got all kinds of reasons - they might think that it's a good thing that disabled people are shown as being sexy and having sex lives too, they might think it's good that the devs didn't chicken out and act like high school kids aren't actually having sex (the horror! the horror!), or maybe they just like sex scenes in their entertainment.

believe it or not, you can actually have good, quality, artistic entertainment (books, movies, comic books, tv shows, and yes video games) that include sex scenes. just because KS is a visual novel doesn't mean it's suddenly different.

second: it's the devs' game, not yours, not mine. they make it, we just play it. and if I've learned anything about creative works in progress, it's that you don't tell the makers what to do unless you're one of the people making it, you don't tell them to add something or take something out and act like you expect it to happen. you know what you get when you have a creative project with all kinds of outside interference? you get a shitty result. do you want a shitty result? I don't.

...nothing personal, man. I'm just sick as hell of people screaming "CUT OUT THE SEX SCENES! SOMEONE MIGHT NOT LIKE IT!" or acting like it's somehow bad to show people having sex. they're in, that's not changing, get over it.

[/rant]
I could be wrong, but I think you're taking what he said the wrong way. I think the point he was driving at is that no matter how good the game (or movie or book etc) is, if there is sex/nudity/violence, some wacko prude is gonna throw a tantrum and get all the other wacko prudes to sign petitions and write angry letters and will go completely bonkers over something that is completely unwarranted.

Is it stupid? Hell yeah it is? Will that stop KS from getting a bad rap? No, unfortunately
That's the great part about KS and FLS. Not only is this project not going to make any money, it's also not going to be distributed at any stores. Anybody that makes a petition is going to get laughed at.

That and the devs are channers.

Expect epic lulz.

Personally though I expect to get right to the end of the game, up to that point it is beautifully written, lovely game and then last stretch....EPIC TROLL MOMENT!

Just no. Keep your lulz away from my KS.

No living human could put themselves through as much work as the devs have done on KS purely for the sake of lulz, no matter how epic. They'd have to be some kind of... super-trolls.
