iPhone app?

Post by Tsundere Lightning » Fri Jan 15, 2010 5:26 pm

Are there any plans to make an iPhone application of Katawa Shoujo?

There aren't.
<duanemoody> you're ruining the illusion of craftsmanship we see in every commercial for some product
<duanemoody> like cheese
<duanemoody> it has to be a bearded intense man in a leather smock hyperfocusing on sculpting some pointless detail
<duanemoody> badly lit for maximum contrast
<duanemoody> LIKE THIS, visual novels are made

If I understood correctly, the KS team uses a third-party engine so if that engine can run on an iphone, the game can simply be ported and if the engine can't, then none of the KS developers will be able to do anything about it, even if they supported this idea.

Personally, I'm not sure how much it would add. Iphones are nice gadgets to play casual games on, but for reading...I dunno. If I have the choice on whether to read my mail on a computer screen or an iPhone I don't need long to decide.

Those would be tiny H-scenes.
It's a good thing Shizune is deaf, she is the only one who can stand (not) hearing "Wahaha~!" over and over.

It's an extremely popular format, and it might get a lot of attention. Other Ren'Py games have been successfully ported, as well.

Just curious; thanks for letting me know.

You could try PS3 or the PSP, try using Linux on a PS3, the new Slims don't have 3rd-party OS support anymore, so you should try the older models. But its pretty recommended. It's just as popular as the iPhone.
I plan on making an Anime-style FPS/TPS. Cel-shaded 3D Animation and using Source from Valve Corp.

Shizune always reminds me of 2K-tan and Izumi Sawatari.

Battle of Katawa, a mecha RPG-Strategy-Action Game. (Named after Battle of Sunrise.)

KS is never likely to get on the apple app store even if the unlikely event that the devs wanted it on there, the H-scenes would never get past apples standards and practises people I believe.

Also there are VNs on the iPhone? Name them please.

This is correct. Both also had H-scenes stripped for their respective ports.

Which is just another reason amongst many that KS isn't getting an iPhone port.

wasn't there some hack of ONScripter to iphone as well? That'd mean a fuckton of games potentially on the platform (I assume it would take a non-trivial amount of work to get them working)

Well... Actually i wouldn't mind if it's getting stripped of the H-scenes... I mean...act 1 was without h-scenes too
what about releasing act 1 in the app store (if it can be ported) as a "lite" version.
If it gets lotsa downloads, (and good ratings) you can be sure the full version (without the h-scenes) will be a huge success too!

....or i might just be saying this because i have an iPhone and want to play KS when i'm not at home :3
