maybe 5 Feet 7.3 Inches consider as a tall girl for japanese
lol, I'm aware. In anime, the generic height for a tall girl is 5'7, since that's pretty tall for Asians in general. (5'0 myself.) It's just that Hisao said she was the tallest girl he'd ever seen, so I had this mental image that she was 6'0 or something. XD
Most models are 5'8-6'0, so I guess I assumed Lily would be model-esque.

I am 183 cm so I would stick out like a sore thumb in Japan. I'm even tallish for a Canadian.

It is. Almost all the "omg this girl is super-tall" characters end up being about that height...
It's sort of surreal, especially if you're that height and always considered yourself short *cough*.

lol...As an American, I always though 5'7 on a girl was above average, but never short. I'm 5'0, so I know short...

awesome, I'm 198 too. also 160 kilos, so the effect is fun. (mostly fat though, not some body builder here)
6"6 is about right.

i was taught to use the metric system but i still generally use the old system, for things like height it generally comes up more often than not.

Ah, I'm sorry, misunderstanding. According to Wiki, 5'7 is average for a Japanese guy...

Interestingly enough, also according to Wikipedia, Mexicans are about the same height as Japanese.

You still use the Imperial System sometimes? I figured that it went the way of the dodo and that only the US and a tiny number of other countries were still holding out on switching to Metric.
IN AMERICA here. I was taught both the Metric System and the "Standard System" (proper name is United States Customary Units). I have no problems using length, mass, and volume in Metric, but temperature still messes me up and making comparisons between systems does too.

Hmm... that would explain why my japanese teacher wasn't a midget.
I'll stick to my SI (or ISU in english) any day. I grew up with it and it makes much more sense than feet, inches and whatever.
It has always take me by surprise whenever I need to convert from SI to imperial units and viceversa.
Siiiiigh....

We're supposed to. The reality? Flouted. Height is still in feet, in many shops (especially the smaller ones) food is still weighed in pounds, even newborn babies are weighed in pounds, and our clothes (belts and whatnot) are in inches still.
We're taught it in school, and we're SUPPOSED to use it, but I've never been to a pub and asked for 0.6 litres of beer in my life.
