are there any individuals out there like myself who realize that even though this is an h-game (it hurts me to say that even) that people are too concerned about the sex aspect. when did plot and character development take a back seat to sex? this game is great and has actually helped me become more tolerant so cant there be focus on things like that? or am i the only one

I dont see many people only concerned with the sex aspect. People seem to be talking about both the sex and the characters. I don't really see anything wrong with that.

Well, I don't think it'll be like Yume Miru Kusuri or something in having a bunch of uneccessary sex scenes, so...

I think he was talking about the genre. From what I've seen, the genre seems to be targeting people interested more in the sex-scenes than in the real storyline, so, you (OP) wouldn't be the only one. And yes, I'd like to see more eroge games with a compelling storyline than just having a guy meeting random girls and having sex with them. That was good when I was 14 or less, not now.

If anything I've noticed that most of the popular/talked-about/translated VNs are barely focused on sex at all, except for Yume Miru Kusuri. Ever 17, chaos;head, Umineko, Higurashi, Clannad, Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime, Planetarian. . .

I appreciate this; if I wanted porn I wouldn't bother reading through a bunch of text for it. Although it certainly doesn't seem to stop people from assuming that all visual novels are "dating sims" or "hentai games".

Really? I don't think anybodys been making a big deal out of the sex scenes yet. What makes you think that.

I plan to play it with the hentai scenes - as the thread I made shows, I'm curious what sex with the girls will be like. but you know, I wouldn't be curious at all if the demo hadn't totally gotten me into them as characters. I'm not really a porn guy, I haven't played any h-games, so that wasn't what drew me to KS. I didn't expect to get so into KS, didn't expect it to be this good, didn't expect the girls to be such well-written characters.

so, wanting to see the h-scenes is more about seeing how Hisao gets to that level of relationship with each of them, and how the relationship progresses to that point, and even what happens afterward. yeah, I'm actually hoping for afterglow scenes, whaddayaknow.

let's face it - if the game was all about the fucking, there would have been h-scenes in act 1. and that would have been just horrible.

I'm here for the writing. As far as the sex is concerned...*shrug*...we'll see how things turn out in the full version. I'll lose a lot of respect for KS if the sex is just tacked on without regard for character or story development. That sort of thing is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to literature.

So, on a slightly related note, you could say KS has popped my VN cherry and I'm interested in looking into others. I've heard good things about Clannad and Kanna Imouto. Are there others that don't let sex, or a lack of it, get too much in the way of a good story?

In the end, it's a game, and if you like it, good. If you don't like it, good. The point is, there is sex-scenes, and whether you're playing for the plot or the fappage, the sex is going to happen at one point, and that's how it rolls. Everyone likes it for their own reasons. So...there's nothing left to say here.

People have at points been concerned about h-scenes, usually in two camps: Those who don't want them at all (for various reasons), and those who are worried about being just fap material thrown in near the end. The latter, I don't think is a real worry. KS is definitely designed with the story in mind first and anything sexual is likely to be more a "part of life" thing than blatant porn.

Yeah, that's kinda what I think to. Makes it sorta like Clannad in a way, I suppose...only it does up with sex at a point.

Of course, the devs could just end up going crazy and there'll be a kinky cripple orgy in the second act.
