Think there's an elevator in there? Because I doubt that they roll wheelchairs up the stairs. And they only walk Hisao to class once, so we don't know if they use the stairs every morning, and going downstairs is differend from going upstairs (Hisao has problems walking uphill from town too)

They walk to the classroom together more than once. Off the bat I can think of at least three or four occasions. If I check the scripts I guess I'll find even more.
I'm certain there are elevators, but they never mention taking one, and something like Misha asking to use the elevator would be strange enough to mention.

While there may be a number of elevators it doesn't really seem practicle to me unless there are only a few students unable to use the often mentioned stairs. You can only fit a few wheelchairs at a time in a standard elevator so depending on how many students can't use stairs there are at the school it could take quite a while for all of them to get to classes. A couple of the background pics shows ramped floors so it seems likely that at least the floors used for classes and the cafeteria have been made handicaped accessible. Though I doubt Shuzune would have the patience to let Misha use the lower angled ramps instead of stairs since it would take longer to cover the extra distance. So I think the line about having trouble with stairs will be addressed somewhere in Shizune's route.

I'm in this camp, Shizune and Misha sent Hisao to do labor in their stead, and when he spends too long talking to Rin they come up and check on him anyway. If it were too difficult for Misha to use the stairs then she would not have shown up later.

I'd just like to point out: most illnesses that cause vertigo (at least that I know of) DON'T cause permanent vertigo. They come in doses that can vary a lot in length and severity. It's entirely possible that Misha just literally "got better" in the time it took Hisao to get the art supplies.

There's still elevators though. Dunno about those, unless elevators don't go well with vertigo or something.

Yeah, but everything she does in the whole act can be summed up as her being a strange but otherwise normal person. If we assume her disability is actually hinted at, and it's not a mental problem, then she has to be hiding something.

So her problem with walking stairs is due to Shizune being a little bit too rough the night before?

hey now, lets leave the rest for us to imagine ;D

A lot of people think her "trouble walking up stairs statement as a hint." or her loudness. Honestly they aren't, people make up excuses all the time not to do things. and particularly in this case it would seem as though something was already planned so i'd say the whole stairs thing is just a half assed excuse she made up on the spot. As for her being loud all the time, lots of people are really loud all the time. I haven't played the revisions so i cant say for certain but from what i gathered in v1 that's all there was to it. As far as anything that's been given out thus far she could just as well be an android built specifically to be Shizune's friend. I know i said ADHD before but that was just a joke since she seems to hyper.

you ppl read way too much into everything. just wait for the game to come out and play it. If you guess it right the effect it was intended to have on the player might have been lost on you, if you guess wrong you feel like an idiot. just leave it be.

I was at an aspergers meet recently and there was a girl who was quite a bit like Misha. There was one shy one but the other one couldn't stop talking and was very in your face. Shyness is possibly the most common symptom of Aspergers but for some girls with aspergers the shyness is very situational.

The more this thread goes on, the more I think we'll never know why Misha is at Yamaku. Yup, even after the release.

Anyway, I'd like to try to sum up everything, that might be of help.

What the devs tell us:

-During the ManiFest podcast, it is said that they don't have a clue about it, just that Misha was put there to make Shizune someone Hisao could communicate with. (I'm too lazy to listen to it again, if someone does, please confirm.)
-On an older blog post, that one actually, Aura tells us about "missing the real hints". So, have they decided that she HAS a disability?

Ok, so listening to the devs won't help. (Though the "broke a nail in third grade" idea is really funny)

The symptoms

-General clumsyness. The stairs making her dizzy might be some lie to trick Hisao, however I don't think she lies about her aim during the festival. Plus, in the scene where they order chinese food, Hisao notices that she has trouble dialing the number, and she says that she has trouble breaking chopsticks. Is her clumsyness a symptome, or just part of her personality? Compared to other "clues", it's still the most serious one.

-Being loud: I don't think I need to sum it up, she definitely has volume issues. But again, is it really related to her disease, or is she that way just for fun? I think she was made that way just for fun.

-Knowing sign language: I don't think it might be a symptom. She may have learnt a bit of it by coincidence before she met Shizune, and that's it.

Now, at this point I would have just told my theory (Some kind of nerve disease), but after all i've written, i'm doubting myself. Too bad. So i'll just post all of this.

However, if the devs REALLY thought of a disease for Misha, I don't think it would be a rare/obscure illness or a mental one. First, that would be extra work for the devs if it was an obscure one, and as for a mental disorder... I don't know, it just doesn't suit her, I guess.

Have fun trying to figure it out, but I have the feeling that her disease is not one you need to check wikipedia five times to find it. Just a feeling though.

Perhaps Misha's disability has to do with her pink hair.

Now start start that, i've already been bombarded with text mentioning how her hair has nothing to do with it since Shizune's hair is an unnatural color as well.
It's Anime/VN logic.

Meesha's been using too much of dem toxic hair colors and sprays to maintain her do. The resulting brain damage from exposure to chemicals is the reason for her stay in Yamaku. Would explain the loudness too, she's no longer in 100% control of her faculties.
