It's Russian and simply means "land"... No idea if there are other meanings in other languages.

It's Russian for "land" or "Archipelago"

It's based on Novaya Zemlya, which is where the biggest nuclear bomb was dropped.

I'm going to release a "reader's guide" with all of these Easter Eggs when I release the paperback.

They offer apps for emulating kindle on phones but I dislike reading novels on small screens.
There are Mac and PC versions of the Kindle app. It works pretty much exactly like a PDF reader, so that's what I've been using.

I will admit - this experience has shown me just how few people use Kindle or pay money for things on the internet.

I thought that most people were aware of how to use things like Kindle apps. I was wrong I guess. Still, you learn things every day!

That's why I'm hoping to get the paperback quickly so there are no "I don't use Kindle" excuses. I don't think that will help the number of units though somehow... :D

There is now a paperback available if anyone is into physical books.

I have to admit Doom's cover looks great in the flesh.

Apologies for the long link but this should get you directly to the paperback.

If you buy the real book you should also be able to get the digital version for next to nothing

You can thank Doomfest for that.

If you want a copy of the paperback PM/DM me. I've got a couple of proof copies

Per Wikipedia, it's a transliteration of the Ukrainian word for Earth.
That may or may not be an intended reference here though.

I've actually included this and a number of other explanations here (Beware, there are many spoilers ahead):

https://cplcrud.wordpress.com/the-zemly ... ers-guide/

But the tl;dr version is that I was referring to Novaya Zemlya, which is where the largest nuclear weapon (the Tsar Bomba - 50MT) was tested. That's just the kind of thing I'm into.

PS: Any Amazon reviews are appreciated, as are posts on various social media sites (most don't let you self-promote, like reddit...)

I'm also thinking about doing a Christmas special deal on Amazon, and hopefully I'll be able to get an account on Kobo soon (it's not as easy as you'd think...)

Oh hey, I actually got this for Christmas but haven't read it yet. Senior thesis was a doozy (40 pages!) but the novel is still on my radar so I'll be reading it soonish?

I'm sure it'll be good.

Ah yes, writing big papers can be a bit of a pain. But that's just part of learning. If you're not writing long dissertations then you're just not trying hard enough....

I hope you find the time to read it; I know that the sequel is coming along nicely. I'm in the wind-down phase now of the first draft and then it's time to fire up the printer and start editing.

Thanks for the support
