Re: Recommend a VN

Why must I see these things? They make me feel TOO DAMN GOOD AND HAPPY. Cause she's the girl with the happiest face on Earth. http://i.imgur.com/9CAPk.jpg (And if these posts don't indicate it already, I'm highly recommending Rewrite. It's unlike anything KEY has ever done before. However, it's not...

Re: Recommend a VN

The reason why they use the same artist is because a significant amount of Key fans do genuinely like the art style. That's opinions for you. No, it's pretty much because Hinoue Itaru is one of the founders of KEY. They can't exactly fire her. And in her defense, she has definitely gotten better. M...

Re: Recommend a VN

I don't think the art is that bad, considering it is from the 90s. :) I suggest playing the VN first, then the anime. Or watching the 2002 anime, then the VN, and then the 2006 anime. Why would you watch the 2002 anime first? That's just horrible spoilers for the VN itself. I agree that the art is ...

Re: Recommend a VN

Just finished Quartett today. Result is : MANLY TEARS. I can't stop crying reading the story and conclusion of this VN. Maybe this is the third VN which make me cry after G-Senjo no Maou and Katawa Shoujo. Seriously, Quartett is highly recommended altough it's short >.< Really then i suggest readin...

Re: Recommend a VN

39 pages of recommendations to sort through...My inner Shizune cringes at the inefficiency of this method of VN discovery. Better get started... It is indeed inefficient, but is also more practical than making a list and updating, especially cause these things depend on personal tastes and all.

Of course not. Myself, I turned those off after the first route, and the rest of the routes still took a damn long time.

Re: Recommend a VN

@Mysterious Stranger: If you haven't already, make sure that you're using the 1.2 patch and that the graph_vis folder (not file) in the game directory is deleted. (For hoshimemo) Oh, don't worry - I took great care in making certain I had everything in order before playing. The dolphins should be n...

Re: Re-reading KS after many other VNs

Lets get back on track The things about a great VN is that when you re-read it, you could pick up all of the tiny hints of what is going to happen later on that you miss during the first run through of it. Then you feel stupid for not seeing what is going to happen on the first run. If anything Lil...

Re: Re-reading KS after many other VNs

Dammit I forgot that I made this thread. Now I guess it's too late for any meaningful discussion about VNs. Where did all this random CoD stuff come from, anyway? Oh, and CoD is great if all you're looking for is some mindless shooting fun, and it's a different experience to Saints Row 2. Hell, Sain...

Re-reading KS after many other VNs

So, like in the case of several people here, KS was my first visual novel. (I didn't think of Phoenix Wright as a "VN" when I played it, seeing that it had a decent amount of gameplay anyway.) I didn't even know of the existance of visual novels before that. And just like for most other pe...

Re: Your favourite emotional romance VN?

Symphonic Rain. I have many other favourite VNs, but SR wins hands down when romance alone is considered. It's like a must-read for a fan of romance VNs.

Re: Questions about the game.

Movies have decision points? And a story that waits for player-input prompts before it progresses? And again, what do you mean by gameplay? Are you arguing even decisions dilute a VN, by adding gameplay? Interactive movie. Google it. What Mass Effect minus the gameplay (by gameplay I mean the TPS/R...

Re: Questions about the game.

I actually HAVE seriously argued that Mass effect is a visual novel. It is a visual novel with a recurring cover-based third-person shooter minigame. If you dispute this point, I present my counterargument: is it the gripping gameplay that got people complaining to the Better Business Bureau? Was i...
