Re: Discovered KS less than a week ago. Now I'm at 100%
I've played maybe 3 dating sims in my life. I dont know which ones. But I wasnt really impressed with them. Its not really my type of game. I concluded, years ago, it was mostly just fap-material. Two of the three that I mentioned would get a "PG" movie rating at most (and I think the Ari...

Re: Discovered KS less than a week ago. Now I'm at 100%
A few scenes in, I knew this wasnt any normal dating-sim, and I was hooked! I'm not sure what you mean. Provide some context, and let us know what romance games and VNs you have tried. Then again, I say this admitting that the last time that I read Katawa Shoujo was a demo in 2009, and I haven't tr...

Re: I can't wait.
It's been about eighteen years since the last time I was truly impressed with a Final Fantasy game. I still have that SNES cartridge, and the last time I tried, it still works. It's been seventeen years since a friend introduced me to the indie/alternative comic Elfquest. It showed me that there was...

Re: Game of the Year?
Hm I'm not sure. Unlike most games this one had a severe lack of gameplay, and many would argue it isn't even a game. Growing up in general video game fandom, I was constantly told that gameplay was the #1 factor. Furthermore, some of my favorite video games have had relatively simple graphics, for...

Re: Amazing game!
This game is much better than any of the games like this that cost money... If you have time, let us know what you've read and played before. Give us a bit of context. I remember being a new VN fan, reading Season of the Sakura and having good things to say about it. Not too much later, I read Kana...

Re: Telling friends and/or family?
I don't see a need to share my niche interests with everyone. In fact, one of the audio programs that I listen to (if you're curious, it's the weekly Bronyville podcast) has reminded me that it's unwise to pester people by advocating favorite shows and fandom, and that it's equally unwise to have sh...

Re: Inspired to make a VN
Not sure if you know this, Kulthozuer, but an awful lot of fan projects never get past the planning stages, and others end up unfinished (for instance, a small demo is released, and nothing more). It happens with webcomics, it happens with blogs, it happens with fanfiction, and it happens with all k...

Re: If Katawa Shoujo were more of and H-Game (Adult Content)
Most of my VNs from 2002 until early 2005 could be accurately described as "Plot with Porn," though I got into a few which were not much besides strung-together sex scenes. Some of the stuff that I experienced included: * Sex combined with electric shock baton torture (from Three Sisters S...

Re: Your favourite emotional romance VN?
My favorite emotional romance visual novels would be... 1. The freeware kinetic novel "A Midsummer Day's Resonance," which was translated by the people at insani.org around 2005. This story take about an hour to read, and contains no choices or gameplay. I'm not entirely sure if I liked th...

Re: This Game Did SOMETHING...
The way Katawa Shoujo is written is damn good, and when people all it a "dating simulator" they are sadly mistaken. KS does not include statistics, schedule management, or other simulation-style game mechanics. I really doubt there will be any other games like it sadly. A lot of companies...

Re: Another VN Recruitment Post
First, be advised that not many freeware games get completed. An awful lot of projects fall apart for various reasons (lack of perseverance and passion, team conflicts, real life issues, and so on). Too many times, nothing gets released except for a few blurbs, some art samples, and maybe a demo. It...

Re: Genderbender: Katawa Shonen
A VN with a female lead character, set NOT in a school, NOT in Japan either, and where the main doesn't even have to romance, but can focus on her carreer or following her dreams, or making friends, and when she follows romance she can choose whether it will be sexual or not. Or sex without romance...

Re: The future of VN's
In the GRIMDARK future of visual novels, there is only war... Since playing ks, I've played several vn's, and I ended up buying them after playing them ( You get the idea, main reason why I played first is because I needed to know if the fan translations worked properly ). And I can tell you Vn's ar...

Re: Games That Evoke So Much Emotions
A couple years ago, I tried some recommended experimental, zero-budget games from the indie game community. One of them was "Passage," which, as far as I can tell, is an abstract story about a relationship. A couple fall in love. They stay together over the years. She dies. Then he dies. I...
