Huh? Lilly has only two endings. And they're structured in a very straightforward manner. The good end is pretty much an extension to the bad end.Nekken wrote: [*]Lilly has three endings, but they're structured in a strange way. Re: Questions about the game.
VNs like School Days and Mass Effect VNs like Mass Effect Mass Effect Huuh? Even School Days is pretty much borderline in the is-it-a-visual-novel debate, but Mass Effect? Not even stuff like Indigo Prophecy or Heavy Rain that have very little gameplay are considered visual novels. Are you perhaps ...

Re: Questions about the game.
If Ushio's death was a random tragedy and you had some control over whether or not the loss of his family would push Tomoya over the edge or if he'd recover from it would work, but the supernatural element that allows you to alter history so that neither Nagisa or Ushio get sick and just implying T...

Re: Questions about the game.
That's actually one of the big reasons i hate the Clannad expansions, i do know what happens in the end of After Stories. I actually kind of liked Tomoya and thought that if Nagisa was just the annoying best friend alongside Sunohara it could have been decent, but instead we've got a bullshit magic...

Re: Questions about the game.
Not to rain on your parade but with how high the website ranked Clannad which is very poorly written as far as the actual drama is concerned, the praise is hollow. It's like bringing up how highly Half-Life 2 was praised by a website that called Modern Warfare 3 very good. Of course i'm a video gam...

You're thinking popularity. KS is ranked #51 by ratings. (7.97/10) However, that's still great, as, like you mentioned, VNDB has 10000+ VNs listed.ravenlord wrote:
As far as KS, it ranks very highly there: http://vndb.org/v945
Out of over 10,000 games, it is ranked #17 -- not too shabby!

Re: What makes a good Visual Novel?
I think most VNs are about the h scenes and thats about it :P You really haven't read many visual novels, have you? All the top rated vns at http://vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=tagspoil-0;o=d;s=rating disagree with you. Some of these don't even have any h scenes at all. (Sure, there are a shit load of nuk...

Re: Other Media that gave you "The Feels."
I finished the Assassin's Creed Series some weeks ago. The Requiescat in Pace Altaïr , Requiescat in Pace Cristina and when Lucy dies made me cry a lot ;_; Really? I always found the series deep but not THAT deep  Also I just feel like saying that damn avatar puts a smile on my face EVERY time...

Re: When introducing this game to somebody, how do you start
The "dating-sim" term comes from the majority of westerners that have never tried a visual novel, and assume they're dating sims because the player/reader chooses the protagonist's romance path that leads to sex in many cases. But the amount of VNs that are actually dating sims as well is ...

Re: When introducing this game to somebody, how do you start
reading a visual novel instead of playing a visual novel Reading would be the correct terminology, I'd say. That's the word most VN fans use, anyway. Reading. Of course, playing works as well, as Japanese classify VNs as games, and even put them on game consoles. But the fact remains that what you ...

Re: Recommend a VN
Too bad the English version is only out in the crappiest format known to VNs, DVD Video. I've heard it is meant to be really good however, although all Nitro+ games are meant to be good, even Chaos;Head has some loyal fans. Phantom of Inferno also featured on one of the earlier versions of the /vn/...

Re: Recommend a VN
From the increasingly numerous reports at /vn/, the English School Days HQ release is heavily bugged, resulting in things like unrelated scenes happening no matter what choices are picked, leading to wrong endings and so on.Mysterious Stranger wrote: Anyway, has anyone played the translated School Days yet?

Re: Recommend a VN
Finished Refrain and lets say hitting enough cats would get wonderful results. Afaik, none of the minigames have any effect on Refrain. (That or I'm misunderstanding your sentence.) Question to people who finished both Clannad and Little Busters: Which do you like more, Clannad After Story or Littl...

Re: Recommend a VN
1v1 fighting game This is out of our control and happens automatically, though, so I don't think it can exactly be considered a minigame. Oh, and also, the minigames end with the common route. The heroine routes, and Refrain, aka the "true" route, have no minigames, and take up a huge por...
