Re: Emi inspired running/workout

I'm a bit confused with Fitocracy. Mine appears to have broken, and isn't showing any updates on my feed apart from from the little robot fella. Hasn't for a few months now. It's quite disappointing, because it means I have less incentive to log in, which means I get less excited about exercise etc...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

It's because the muscles in the body work together. When you do any kind of movement, you're not just moving one isolated muscle. There's always an opposing muscle (or group of muscles) that moves the other way, and some other muscles that join in too. So if one is a LOT stronger than the others, it...

Re: Motivation

I think understanding the significance of short-term pleasure vs long-term pleasure is what helped me with motivation. If you have something big you wanna do (i.e. fitness, getting a better job, general life improvement), you have to cut out other little things (vices, i.e. watching tv and surfing t...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

On a side note, one change I made to my diet was to eliminate white bread completely and replace it with whole wheat bread. Whole weat food products contain complex carbohydrates - they provide long-term energy and make you feel fuller longer (mmm, fiber). White bread and other 'processed' grain pr...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Instead of inverted rows you can do dumbell rows (You can use anything heavy like a backpack or a jug filled with water or something, if you don't have dumbells) or try to find a park with some low bars

Other alternatives to running could be biking or jumping rope

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

On google maps, if you go to "Maps labs" at the bottom left, you can enable the distance measurement tool and then trace your block (using sattelite view for more accuracy).

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Suggestions for the starting week? I'd start with week 1 day 1 and see how it goes. If it feels way too easy, then move up to week 2. Managing to keep up with the 100 push-up challenge, started Wk2D1 last night. :D Took a break from c25k Monday night because I hurt my ankle, but it wasn't bothering...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

I hurt. For no apparent reason, I got back home today and thought "Hey, why don't I start EC25K today?" So I did. And I never realised that a minute could be such a long time >.< Got back home and just collapsed into a chair for 5 mins before I could even get the strength to get to the co...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Ook, that's freaking awesome. You got a target weight you're shooting for? Since I started tracking my weight loss (5/19/2012) I've averaged 2.65 lbs. a week. Feels so good to be improving your life, doesn't it? I'm aiming to eventually be between 150-175, and we'll see how it goes from there (for ...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

You know... I had an idea. When I was younger, I was in and out of an organization called Weight Watchers - diet organization, sort of sucked but that is neither here nor there. Anyway, at every meeting the leader of our group would give us a grand total of how much weight everyone lost for the yea...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

yeah, luckily it was a relatively nice day compared to the ones leading up to it. It was cloudy for about half the run, and there was a nice breeze. Pretty much perfect how that worked out. :)

Of course Emi would've ran regardless of the weather, so I guess I had to as well. :!:

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

@kyky: yeah squats are brutal, I did some squats last week and was feeling them in my quads for like 3-4 days. @akros: Almost there dude  congrats on sticking with it @Andros, while I'm glad your first attempt didn't discourage you from trying again (that's the spirit :D), something's wrong...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

just got back from my 2nd 5k race, I beat my previous time by 4 minutes. :D Somewhere in the first mile, some random lady started talking to me, so we ran together the rest of the way. It was cool to have someone to run with. Before that, I was actually planning to just give up and walk the last cou...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Just an update, pushups are going well so far. I've been able to complete every day (w1d1-w2d1) just barely. I'm curious as to what day will finally do me in and I'll have to repeat it. W2D3 looks like a big jump, so I'm guessing that one. However, I also share some weather-related woes with you guy...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Week 1 day 2 of pushups complete. I don't know if it was because I didn't run first like last time, or if I'm actually getting stronger already, but it was a little easier than day 1. Also, I reached a milestone today - I went to an amusement park. :D I hadn't been to one of those in about 8 years, ...
