Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club
Well. I request my crush to become "friend" in facebook and she, by whatever that drive her to talk with me from the first place, accept it without knowing who I am. Now I am one of her 1750 so-called friends. Yay. (Yay in dull voice, actually) I remember you posting about meeting this gi...

Oh, by the way, just to "show off" Woah, looking trim! Your hard work has sure paid off. You definitely rate those cool shades and unusual bass. 8) - Running update: I reached 18 km on Wednesday and actually felt a bit better afterward than when I previously reached 16. My joints and shin...

Re: Hanako and Life of Pi?
It really is a good book, and well worth my read. The ending might or might not surprise you, but it's pretty great. Right on, I'll give it a go - maybe he just came across wrong. The Ceeb might just draw out the dickhead in people. :) I think there might actually be a copy kicking around my house...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
Could be shin splints. http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/shin-splints tl;dr version is take asprin or ibuprofen after a workout if its bad and ice your shins for awhile after running. Good luck on your goal Walrusfella but frankly you are practically there already so long as you keep at it. Tha...

Re: What does Nc5xb3 means? (Hanako Route)
Welcome to the forums Mr. Wesker! As far as things to know, the rules are here , and this is handy too. Enjoy your stay! :) That code is chess notation , a means of recording moves. There is also another (minor) bit of trivia about that move, but I shouldn't tell you until you finish the story. Enjo...

Re: Hanako and Life of Pi?
I haven't read Life of Pi , but I have heard several interviews with Yann Martel and I found him to be a bit distasteful. Very "up himself" in a CBC / CanLit sort of way. I might give the book a shot though, given the Hanako connexion and what you guys have said about it. I guess you don't...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
I believe in you walrus! There's still plenty of time before the new year, so make sure you don't add too much distance too quickly. But if there's anyone here who can run a half marathon it's you 8) Thanks Ook, that means a lot. I won't be going so hard that I'll hurt myself, at least not through ...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
I never felt anything as good as what I feel during and after the runs During the runs, I feel energized, spiritually almost, all my worries seem less After the runs, the 'runner's high' was really something, I feel almost invincible. Although my injured knee impeded my progress, but it probably wo...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
Thanks guys. :) Sweet patch, bro! Bet your wife will love it. She does, actually - she's an Emibro. Good luck sticking with your restrictions; I'll adhere to them as well. We need to get rid of our respective interloping two pounds. A personal reminder not to run at 11 a.m while it's hot...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
Also, just a question for everyone: Why do you run? The runner's high, weight loss, or just because? I run because even though it hurts like crazy after a race, it's worth it thinking "Holy crap I just did that". Kind of a self-reward system. That's a good question MadScientist, and a goo...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
Congrats dude! You're an inspiration to me. Even though I've lost a truckload of weight (41 kg, 90 lbs, or an entire Emi ) sometimes I still have that mindset of "I'm still a fat guy, I can't run 5k in 30 minutes." But seeing that you only weigh a little less than I do now, there's no exc...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout
I've completed my challenge! Yesterday evening I finished the Bridge to 10k with Emi programme, week 6, day 3. I repeated week 6 because of two injury days last week. My run was 11 km in 1 hour 6 minutes. I ran the one extra km for Emi, and also too reciprocate on the flippant request I made of Alth...

Re: Stranded on a deserted island. Who do you want with you
Yeah, I put that condition in there because I didn't want people just picking Misha as a possible alternate food source in case things ever got tight. I wanted to make it more like "Gilligan's island" and not like "The Donner Party" :) You can figure on a tropical environment ye...

Re: Stranded on a deserted island. Who do you want with you
Upon thinking about it some more, I realised that her advantage, fitness, might actually be a liability in an isolated survival situation. Since her body's a highly efficient machine she'd need a lot of calories per day just to stay alive. Citation needed. Um, okay. Here goes. The UN Food and Agric...

Re: Stranded on a deserted island. Who do you want with you
Again, good question Ravenlord, lots of fun. When I first saw the question I immediately thought of Emi - her cheerfulness and determination would be a bulwark against despair, and her fitness would be useful. Upon thinking about it some more, I realised that her advantage, fitness, might actually b...
